I have been away – without Internet connection and have done absolutely no sewing in the past 3 weeks! Yes, I am going through quilting withdrawal! At least it will be an easy fix!
A creation like this was on our beds each night!
SEW …. How do I know I was going through quilting withdrawal?
- I didn’t get to talk about quilting on the cruise …I would mention that I was a quilter and I would get polite smiles and comments like “my ancient great grandmother was a quilter.”
- THEN, on the LAST day, the LAST time I was in the elevator, just before we got off the ship and one lady mentioned that she hadn’t met a quilter on board and there were THREE of us in the elevator! GROAN – missed opportunities!
- My sewing machines are feeling neglected … I can tell – there is dust near the needles! (Dust on the top is normal around here!) And – they are calling out to me … SEW, SEW, SEW
- When I did have Internet connection, (for about 10 minutes in each port), I diligently downloaded the clues to the new Bonnie Hunter mystery. I think I must have read each clue at least 4 times …
- I’m still debating about the mystery … not whether or not I’m going to do it – but which colours I will use …. usually by this stage, I would have both clues in progress ….
- I’m really missing my quilting buddies … a LOT! It seems like ages since we’ve sewn together
- I’m a bit annoyed that I have laundry and more laundry and even more laundry to do …
- I’m annoyed that I have to go to the gym before I can sew (my own rule!) And aren’t rules meant to be broken?

Hum, I can imagine quilting withdrawal when there isn’t even internet to see what others are doing. I some times take hand appliqué with me on vacations — but knitting socks is smaller although it will take longer to finish even one sock! Hope you are getting some one-on-one time with your sewing machines.

Yes, Bonnie, it was hard to not have Internet … but it was also a great time to relax … read … walk and walk … see the entertaining show … and walk some more …

Hi Donna, not so sure that I want to spend that kind of money … I do enjoy going to all the activities and would hate to be in a room without a view – even with “sea days”.

Well…the good part is you didn’t add any fabric to your stash. Or is that the bad part?

Hi Terry … no fabric added to the stash … I didn’t even look to see if there were any fabric stores in the ports that we stopped at! Which, is a good thing, I guess!

Welcome home! I think we should be able to take our travel machines on the ship to help with the withdrawals:)!! I love the workout rule. That is sew going on my New Years resolution list!

Ha! Ha! Tracy … which part of the rule is going on your NY resolution list? The fact that you hit the gym before sewing, or that the rule can be broken!

I know, Connie! And to have 3 of us in the elevator … but I swear I didn’t see them at all during the cruise!

As cute as that is, I still prefer my sewing machine and long arm.

Yes, Denise, the folded towel creations are cute, but being away for so long gave me a great appreciation for being HOME!

I bet. I’m a home body and I work from home. Just today I sat at my desk ripping a block apart. It’s not often that I am not in my sewing room after dinner weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday. I truly understand.

Hi Gail,
Welcome home! I am sure your sewing machines are happy to have to back in residence. They are patient . . . and will wait for you and the gym to connect. Maybe not sew much understanding for the laundry . . . seriously, dirty clothes?! They can wait. Get going on BH’s mystery – I saw you need 200 of clue #2. WOWEE! ~smile~ Roseanne

P.S. Where did you go? I thought I’d see in an older post but I haven’t a clue. 🙂

Hi Roseanne, We did a Panama cruise, from Ft Lauderdale to San Deigo … 16 days … You didn’t see it in an older post because I don’t put it on social media that we’re going away. 🙂

Hi Gail,
That makes sense!! I try to do the same thing. I have always wanted to cruise the Panama canal. Did you like it? What cruise line did you go on? Ooh, that sounds so fabulous! ~smile~ Roseanne

I loved it. However, once we were through the canal, my husband was ready to come home! But I savoured every day!

Hi again,
No, I haven’t because I just can’t imagine starting a quilt right now – just too much on my plate for this month. But I am reading along – and enjoying seeing others’ progress. ~smile~ Roseanne

I should not do it, but I know I’ll regret not doing it if I don’t … sew, start it I will!

Welcome back to the land of sewing, where no one is ancient (we’re all 29) and sewing burns more calories than going to the gym 😊. Good to have you back! Now go sew! Enjoy!
