Friday … I’m starting new projects!

That’s correct … I’m not starting just one new project … but 3!!!!

Mystery quilts are a great, great temptation to me … and there are 2 that have left me wondering “should I or shouldn’t I?”   Well, the answer is I shouldn’t but I’m going to!

#1   Square Dance

IMG_2552From My Carolina Home is offering “Square Dance.”  This is the one that is already started with the clues named after the calls or moves in square dancing.  Fun!
SEW:  I have started sewing the first few clues, you can see the 9 patches here.  I’m making this with Kansas Troubles … a favourite fabric line! And all from my stash.   This is going to be a small quilt … a table topper.  It should be doable and easily finished by the end of the year.  (If I want to get my PHD in 2018 – it has to be finished!)

#2  Fireburst

 Fire Burst Mystery Quilt
IMG_1692Tish’s Adventures in Wonderland is offering the “Fireburst Mystery Quilt.”  This link will take you to the Picking Fabric Post.  If you have ever wondered about how to go about picking fabric … this is a MUST READ post.  It is explained simply, using the colour wheel and giving you a lot of choices.  The orange will be my background with the light and 2 greens being the other colours.  These are batiks from my stash and my hubby helped pick out the fabrics!
The fabrics have not been cut YET … the size of the cuts determine the size of the quilt.  It’s the same number of pieces for both the baby quilt and the lap quilt … I have enough to do the lap quilt … SEW … another decision to make! Although at the moment, I’m thinking that if I make the lap quilt, it will use up more stash …

#3  Giraffe Baby Quilt

This is the fabric that I fell in love with at the retreat!  I have started a baby quilt with it.  The top is almost together – and I need a baby quilt for a gift later this month … so it might get done very soon.

Langley Quilt Show

The Janome booth is all set up and almost ready to go for today’s and Saturday’s show.   I had a sneak peak at some of the quilts as they were being hung … oh my … there are a LOT of talented quilters in this guild!  Lots of beautiful, stunning quilts!  I can’t wait to see the rest of them if I get a chance to wander through.

I was Featured

again on Wednesday Wait Loss.  This is an interesting title, right? She has a linky party,  “where you can share your quilty works in progress and get the encouragement you need to stop “waiting” to finish them!

Image result for happy face clipart freeSew … my 3 recent quilt starts will hopefully not be “waiting” to be finished.

  1. I’ve read that post by Tish and it’s wonderful! Have fun with her mystery. Your other projects look like such fun! Sure, you’ll be busy but as you say, you’ll use up a lot of your stash so it’s a win! Thanks for linking to Wednesday Wait Loss.

    • Hi Jennifer,
It’s a good feeling to be using up stash! I’m sure I have enough to last a life-time!
It’s fun linking to Wednesday Wait Loss! I’m hoping that several of my UFOs don’t have to WAIT much longer!
      Happy Quilting! 🙂

  2. Gail, I love it! I say just keep sewing! I collected every QAL I could last year and it was soooo much fun! Of course they all still need quilted but that’s an entirely different story 🙂 I love the fabrics you picked out for Fireburst and even more that your hubby helped!

    • Thanks, Tish!
I’ve got a thing going on my blog where every project started in 2018 has to be finished in 2018. It’s called “PHD in 2018” … it entails finishing a lot of UFOs and with finishing every start – it prevents more UFOs from forming!

I’m glad that you like the fabrics for Fireburst … I like the combination, too.

      Happy Quilting! 🙂

  3. Enjoy your new projects, the guild show and I’ll see you in the Fireworks Mystery! Just cut some out for the other mystery. I don’t think it will be too bad!

  4. GAIL! You are NOT starting three new projects. Seriously. I tried not to influence you, really I did! Oh man, Carole’s Square Dance is a good one – I have been following along, trying so hard not to jump in. I can’t wait to see this one finished! And Fireburst – you know I’m doing that one, so we will finish this together hopefully. And #3 – Giraffes!!! OMG – I sew want to make a giraffe quilt for a soon to be baby, but am awaiting to hear the theme. I keep sending them giraffe thoughts – I’m not sure if that will work or not. Well, you have plenty of time to get ’em done plus your UFOs or no PHD for you. (Imagine the Soup Nazi voice for that). ~smile~ Roseanne

    • Hi Roseanne,
Yes, I caved and have started the 2 mysteries and a baby quilt. As for you influencing me … well … maybe a little bit! 🙂
I do like Carole’s latest clue for making an odd shaped block … I think I may enjoy learning this new trick!
As for Fireburst … we’ll have to encourage each other to finish this before the year is out. I don’t want to race – but I do want to finish as soon as it is possible to do so!
I’m loving the giraffes … very very much!
      Happy Quilting. 🙂
