I have been away … sew there are no changes since my July 22 blog post.ย  I had hoped to have another finish, but more important things got in the way.

Check out the progress of all the people participating in PHD in 2018.

  • Susan, from California, is following along by Instagram. ย Go to her Instagram page to see her finishes. (#19 & #20 – on July 19)
  • Terry, my cousin from Ontario, is progressing well! Her blog is TLC Quilts: Sew What’s Next?
  • Roseanne, from โ€œHome Sewn By USโ€ is diligently working on her list!
  • Elizabeth, from โ€œAppliquรฉ and โ€ฆ. knitting, stitchery, genealogy, foodโ€ has many projects very close to being finished, but is moving in the near future. ย Unfortunately, that’s going to hamper her finishes.
  • Kate from โ€œLife in Piecesโ€ is moving right along. ย If you check out her blog – she keeps a record of the days that she sews. ย  She aims for at least 15 minutes of sewing a day … her success rate is 95% (on July 22). ย WOW … she is doing great!
  • Ann from โ€œLaughing Gas Quiltsโ€ ย has her mid year update post here.ย  But a more recent post had me laughing as I followed her mishap and unintentional swim! ย Ann lives in Newfoundland on what they call a “pond.” ย to the rest of the world, it is known as a small lake. ย Enjoy the post!
  • Emily from โ€œthe Darling Dogwoodโ€ is working away, attempting Kate’s 15 minutes a day and linking to OMG (One Monthly Goal). Both of these are helping her to complete her UFOs.
  • Deena from Dreamworthy Quiltsย was on a family quilt retreat – which helped her get some small quilts done.

If you have visited the above blogs and the list does not appear current, it’s because this post was written just before I left. ย I will be back later in the week with a continuation of my usual quilting content.

  1. I believe we have the exact same number to complete for our PHD’s. I have 7 as well unless I get any new starts. There is one new start I may begin in the fall that absolutely no way can be finished this year. A cousin of mine wants me to do a paper pieced New York Beauty with her. I start when she is ready which will not be soon enough for a 2018 finish. That’s ok though. We have waited and saved fabric for years to do this one.

    • Hi Deana,
This number looks way better than the numbers we started with in January – right?
Your new start, the New York Beauty, is totally understandable … I believe that I said in the beginning that new starts that are known to not be finished in 2018, are OK. The intent is to NOT increase the number of UFOs by having multiple starts!
Have fun doing the NYB and I look forward to seeing pictures on your blog!
      Happy Quilting! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. You are doing great! I was away too and find that even 4 days causes me to spend 2 days catching up. Looking forward to seeing what August brings.

  3. Hi Gail! I am so proud of you rocking your UFO list. Roseanne is NOT diligently working on her list, but she did make on of them her August OMG. Good thing there are still a few months to go before the end of the year! Happy Wednesday to you! ~smile~ Roseanne

    • Hi Roseanne!
I’m sorry that I said you were diligently working on your UFO list … I honestly thought that you were moving right along … guess your recent finishes were not UFOs! Oh well … at least you’re not adding to the UFO list! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Just picking up the Irish Chain blocks – havenโ€™t touched since I left in May – all cut but canโ€™t remember what size I decided on ๐Ÿคฃ

    • Hi Judy!
Welcome back! It really doesn’t matter what size you had decided on back in May! What matters now is what size do you want to make it? ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s totally fine to change your mind!
      Happy Quilting! ๐Ÿ™‚
