A few days ago, a couple of cousins on my mom’s side came to visit. It was a fantastic visit as I had not seen either of them for at least 50 years! Anyhow … one of them quilts, and when she saw my very messy creative sewing room, she asked how many projects I had going at one time. Just off the cuff, I said, “5.” Um … well, I didn’t really take a good look at what I had actively going in the room … and of course, it’s the reason for the MESS CREATIVITY.
- Quilt as you go table runner, started eons ago (it’s not even on my UFO list). But I had shorted myself of backing on one end and batting on the other. It needed a repair to call it done.
- Sudoko quilt … needs to be sandwiched (it’s on my UFO list).
- Secret quilt … on the 2018 start – needs to finish this year list. These grey strips are going to be in it …
- Sea-shell quilt … am working on the pieced border
- Little squares bag … a friend was a quilt market in Portland and gave me this sweet little mini-charm pack … another project on the 2018 start list.
- Flannel squares that will eventually become a donation quilt … all organized and ready to sew into rows … it’s on the UFO list.
- This half-hexi quilt that is sandwiched, but waiting for me to digitize the quilting pattern for it …
- The Fireburst mystery
- Giraffe quilt – also waiting for a digitized quilting pattern (a giraffe)
And that didn’t even touch on the UFOs that have not seem the light of day for many many moons!
However, writing out this list makes me realize that I really don’t have much of a focus right now … I need to concentrate on getting this list of 9 done, done, done … Well, all but the Fireburst mystery has the potential to be done in the near future. On second thought, I’m just learning digitizing, so the half-hexi and giraffe quilts may not get done soon. That leaves me with 6 projects to focus on …
Sandwich Marathon #2 Reveal
On my last blog post, Jennifer from The Inquiring Quilter said that she would like to see this pile of sandwiched quilts unfolded. So here they are, from top to bottom. along with the corresponding link if you want to read more about each of them.
Square Dance Quilt (a mystery from My Carolina Home)
OK … I see that my “Starts in 2018” is incomplete, I haven’t added in the newest little project with the mini-charm pack.
Featured AGAIN!!!
Oh wow!!! I was featured on Wait Loss Wednesday!
What an honour!

Half the trick in finishing wips is keeping them in mind. It seems to me that if I create a list of things to do, I end up ticking things off that list. On the other hand, I have a pile of wips in a corner of my sewing room and it has stayed that way for months because those things aren’t on the list right now. And I’m not even sure what’s over there! Thanks for inspiring Wednesday Wait Loss.

You’ve been doing so well and moving things along and getting the UFO list reduced this year. Happy stitching this week!

Awe, focus focus? Do we need a focus? Yes we do, but sewing on more than one project is fun and exciting. As long as we progress all is well.

I haven’t made much progress this past week either and spent the whole day away from my study. Hoping for more time tomorrow. You are doing well and I’m cheering for you to get them all done!

Hi Kathleen!
Thank you for your encouragement!
It’s hard to keep making progress when you don’t have time to sew!
Happy Quilting! 🙂

I’m glad you were able to have a great visit. I know you were really looking forward to it.
What do you mean by digitizing the quilting? 😲 I don’t understand…
I would drive myself crazy if I was actively working on more than one project…ok, more than two. Having said that, I don’t consider my UFO list being “actively worked on”. They are in progress, but parked…does that make sense?
Cheers coz.

SEW, Terry … what makes you think I’m not crazy!! I honestly think I am!
Digitizing … well, this is a whole new ball game … it’s designing a quilting pattern on a software program … then you send the pattern to an embroidery machine and it will stitch it out. From what I know, you need to move the quilt a zillion times to have the pattern stitch out. I’m just working on simple simple things at the moment … like the outline of a turtle … it’s all a part of what I’m having to learn at work … and it is fun!
Happy Quilting! 🙂

Hi Gail! I’m glad Jennifer asked to see the pile unrolled, too. I know I’ve said it before but I really LOVE the Left-overs quilt. The fabrics, the colors, the pattern – all of them just please me to no end. Six projects to focus on sounds doable and like a plan. I am SO impressed with you and your UFO list. You’re rocking it! Happy Sunday! ~smile~ Roseanne

Hi Roseanne,
Thank you!
The original quilt (before the left-overs) was a disappearing 4 patch. The fabric was OLD … a flannel line from Benartex … Both the original and Left-overs were backed with flannel … so cozy!
Having written out the list … knowing I have 6 things to work on … does make it doable! since I wrote the blog post, I’ve been working on 4 of them … crazy I am!
Happy Quilting, my friend! 🙂

That’s a lot of projects in process! I go crazy if I have more than 4 scattered about the sewing room. If I had more space though, I’d probably have more out at once.

Hi!
I know I’m crazy … but I’ve NEVER been able to work on only one project at a time. It’s as if my mind needs the extra challenge of doing 2 things at once! However, it can get frustrating as well! 🙂
Happy Quilting! 🙂
