My Friday Finish …
This is the baby quilt that was a secret, but not any more! The other day, I tried to take a picture of it in the sun, but the wind was blowing toooooo hard … so I laid it on the grass, which has a sprinkling of leaves on it … I like it for a backdrop.
Baby Quilt – Revisited
Do you remember this baby quilt that was a secret until it was gifted
Well a talented friend of mine, Dawn, sent me a picture of a quilt that she made, using the same pattern with her own twist …
Here’s what Dawn said she did to make a smaller version:
I cut 8.5″ squares to start with, cut sashing 2.5″, side borders were cut 4″, top and bottom were cut 5″ for a finished size of 42″ wide and 44″ long. If I make it again ( and I probably will, because I cut a whole bunch of 8.5″ squares) I think I’ll only cut the sashing 2″ to make it a bit narrower. This is a great pattern for using up small ” chunks” – so bright and modern looking!
These 2 quilts are an adaptation of Moda Bakeshops “Flying Arrows.”
By the way … Dawn is a very talented long-arm quilter! If you have quilts you want quilted, she is near Vancouver, B.C.
Back to my Friday Finish
I followed Dawn’s lead and used 8 ½” squares … but made a total of 35 blocks with the borders being the same size as the sashing. The sashing is 2½” wide … and the finished size is 44″x 48″.
SEW – has anyone else made this quilt? I’d love to see pictures of your creation! ♥
Happy Quilting!
Gail

I love when mother nature gives us the perfect backdrops 🙂 I love the pattern. I’ve never made it, but you are definitely making me think that I should. Congrats you on your finish!

Hi Tish,
It is an easy pattern … and free from Moda … but this one was made with 8.5″ squares instead of 10. Much nicer size for a baby quilt!
Happy Quilting! 🙂

Hi!
Oh!!! It will be fun to see what you make!
Don’t thank me for the pattern, it’s a Moda Bakeshop one … the designer did the hard work!
Happy Quilting! 🙂

What a lovely little quilt! It’s so bright and cheerful that I’m sure the recipient will love it. No, I haven’t tried that pattern, but I did make a chevron runner a few years ago.

Hi Ann,
Thank you! It’s a nice easy quilt and might end up being my “go-to” quilt … but maybe not … who knows? There’s always another pattern around the next corner! 🙂
