I am done the last quilt for my PHD!!! The rain quit coming down for about 10 minutes, so I rushed outside for a quick photo. Ideally, I like to take pictures in the sun, but who knows how long I’d have to wait before I see the sun again? And there is very little of it in the back yard at this time of year. You can see details of my start on this quilt HERE.
You can find the patten HERE.
And above is a close-up of the centre square and the quilting on the back. There is a lovely soft flannel on the back.
Very rarely do I use the border fabric for a binding … especially when the border is light. But this quilt just called out to have the same fabric.
Good Fortune Mystery
Parts 1, 2 & 3 are done … all done. Part 4: I was debating whether to strip fabric together for the rectangles – or just go with one piece of fabric. The rectangles aren’t that big – so I’m leaning towards just cutting them the size they need to be. If I do that, Part 4 will be done very, very soon! Part 5 has the orange / neutral (grey / neutral for me) cut out … the bigger triangles still need to be cut. Tomorrow, I will be linking to Monday’s Good Fortune link-up HERE.
It’s a wrap for me! All UFOs and starts in 2018 are done, Done, DONE!!!! I hope to post a summary of my PHD projects in a couple of days … stay tuned!
There will be a PHD in 2019 challenge … If you feel overwhelmed by your UFOs – feel free to join us! You can read about it HERE.

Your last quilt is a complete stunner, front, back, and quilting! A big congratulations goes out to you for completing your PHD! I am working on my very last one for this challenge and will get it done for sure. I will, however, be short one new start of a PHD. I started a Turkey quilt in November. I was out of town too much over the Christmas break to get it finished as I planned, and I decided to make 5 camp quilts last minute that took my turkey time. All is well because it was all worth it.
I am loving following the Good Fortune Mystery. It may become a 2019 new start if I like how it turns out. The clues are safely tucked away just in case. I think I would do a solid rectangle if they are too small to be noticed as pieced.

Yeah!!! Deana! Congratulations on ALMOST finishing your PHD …. too bad that you are just one 2018 start short of completing it!
The Good Fortune Mystery is a LOT of work … personally, I find it way easier to attempt to do the parts as they come along … sure, I don’t get a zillion of each one done, but eventually, they get done.
Are you going to show us your camp quilts?
Happy Quilting! 🙂
