Yes, I was away in Hawaii for 10 days! I loved every minute! Here is a picture of the view from our Airbnb on the east coast of Oahu.
Can you imagine listening to the waves all night and waking up to this view? I loved the warm weather (it wasn’t HOT). It was pretty great … and is now a wonderful memory.
Shopping
We didn’t do much shopping, but did stop in a few fabric / quilt stores. My husband bought more than me! I bought 4 yards, he bought 5! I bought the 2 on the extreme left and the 1 on the extreme right. He bought all the ones in the middle.
Stash Report
Nothing is finished, so nothing taken away … but shopping happened as per picture above.

Design Wall
With being away, I haven’t worked on much! Yesterday and today, I worked on a few blocks from the Bonnie Hunter mystery, Good Fortune … Adding the grey sides to the 4 patches. Not all 4 patch blocks have sides on them … still have tons and tons to do!
Stitchin’ Time
Sew, I’m doing this a little different than Kate (Check out Life in Pieces Blog). I’m only counting the days that I’m home, not when I’m away on holidays … and it’s only counting time spent actually sewing or cutting. Kate suggested taking hand work with me when I’m away … but I really don’t do much by hand … and I haven’t figured out how to fit a sewing machine in my carry-on (with all my clothes etc) or in the front seat of the car!
So far this year, in January, I’ve been home 9 days and I’ve sewn on 8 of those days. Only missed one day. 88%
The stats are looking pretty grim here!
That’s OK … perhaps next week I’ll have a finish. Well, maybe, … maybe not!
If you want to join in and get your PHD in 2019, today is the LAST day to sign up. More information is HERE!
Happy Quilting!

Sounds like an absolutely wonderful trip. A great place to be to stay out of the cold stuff that’s been covering a lot of the US. You both have really great taste in fabrics. Hope you’ve been able to get back to working on your PhD program now that you are back.

Hi Kate,
It was wonderful and warm! We don’t have snow here on the WET coast … but we do have rain and dull grey skies!
It seems like it always takes me a few days to get back into the groove of sewing … and this time it’s taking longer! Oh well, a little progress is still progress, right?

I would give anything to wake up to that view and those sounds 🙂 Maybe one day. Sounds like you have an amazing trip! The year is young, there is plenty of time for finishes…bask in the return glow that was Hawaii.

Hi Tish,
Well, I waited 42 years for my trip to Hawaii! My husband had been before we met and I always made an issue out of it (in jest)! So, finally, I got to go with him! It had changed a LOT since he was there!
I’m afraid that return glow is fading fast in our dull rainy weather!

Hi Lori,
Oh, I did … in the water every day and a few days of snorkelling! Came back with a bit of a tan!

Going to Hawaii has always been a dream of mine. Maybe one day… The colors look like you had the beach and see on your mind.

Hi Cherie!
My husband was in Hawaii a few months before we met. I’ve always talked about how I had never been! And, yes, I’ve been to places that he hasn’t (India, Thailand and a few Canadian cities – for work). So … after 42 years, I finally got to go.

Hi Gail! Ohhhh, that picture looks just perfect. Yes, I can remember hearing the waves and feeling that breeze. Mine is a very distant memory, but I can still dig it out. It’s only the 21st so there’s plenty of time for a finish. I know your PHD sure helped me get everything finished up, so I hope many participate this year. ~smile~ Roseanne

Hi Roseanne!
Memories are awesome!
YOU are so very encouraging! I’m glad that the PHD helped you get rid of all those UFOs!
I’m hoping to get a finish this week, but I’d need to work on it, right? 🙂

What a wonderful vacation! I will be dreaming about warmer temps – today it is 4 in Boston – won’t be long but I dislike it! I love your orderly keeping track of things.

Hi Kathleen,
Yes, I’m dreaming of warmer temps as well. It’s just above freezing here!
Ha! Ha! My orderly keeping track? I think it’s the only thing that’s orderly in my quilting life! 🙂

Hi Mia,
I did drool over a lot of fabric … but managed to limit myself to a few!
Our booking was an airbnb … way cheaper than a hotel!
