My day to post is Feb. 4.  And for those of you that receive notice of my new posts immediately, you’re likely saying, “Gail posted a day early.”  Well, yes and no.  You see, Teresa lives in Australia and is 19 hours ahead of me!  So, this has gone “live” on Feb. 4, Australian time.

SEW … I have made 2 quilts using the same pattern in this book.  I know that I will be using other patterns in the future!  The method is SEW easy!!!!  With fantastic results (in my opinion!)

Here is one I haven’t shown before (just the sneak peek last week).  I was feeling a little guilty because the pattern called for striped fabric.  Obviously, the purple is not striped.  This one still doesn’t use stripes, but it does use a border print, which is sort-of like stripes, right?  It was fun when the blocks matched up.  It was not fun when they did not!!!  But then I ended up putting those triangles off to the side where they did not need to match up!

The quilting on the black/teal one is similar to the quilting on the purple.  Can you see the difference?

Black & Teal Shells

I really enjoyed quilting this!  Here are close-ups of the quilting:

 

This was the very first time I’ve used black batting.  (I think it’s the first quilt I’ve made that had so much black in it!  I used Hobbs 80/20 and of course, it quilted up just as nice as the white!  I spray basted with 505 and when you use black batting, you can really see the spray coverage!  And it re-inforces that you don’t need a lot of spray!

• Thread: Aurifil (dark grey … number is long gone).
