Woohoo! My first UFO finish of 2019!

That’s right, I finished a UFO!!!

This one has been sandwiched since the fall and I finished quilting it yesterday!

In places you can see the blue thread on the back.  Can you tell that I like quilting feathers?   It was hard to quilt them on the top because the blue thread blended in too much with the blue fabric!

The binding is a fake flange.  I’m not sure what happened, but it seemed like the flange was too big and floppy, so I ended up stitching the edge down.

The backing is flannel.  This quilt is for ME! Nice & cozy!

I used a blue Aurifil 50 wt thread on the top and in the bobbin.  Batting is Hobbs 80/20. And it was FMQ on my Janome 8900.   Quilting on the back of Ivan's Diamonds

In the fall, I finished 2 “Ivan’s Diamonds.”  You can read about them HERE and HERE.

Stash Report

My husband & I went to a new quilt store here in Cloverdale.  The Dragonfly.  I didn’t buy any fabric, but my husband did!  grin!  He bought a darkish grey fabric that he thought might go well with my Good Fortune.  I’m not sure, but maybe.  He does have good colour sense!

However, I did buy 2 bolts of fabric.  One white and one cream … for my scrappy quilts, right?   I mean that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Finishes include: Sudoku Mini (here) and Ivan’s Diamonds (above)

* Fabric Used this week: 12.4 yards
* Fabric Used this year: 26.6 yards purple shells 7.4  / black teal shells 7.4 / mini 1.5 / Ivan’s Diamonds 10. 9

I finished my 4th block for CQA 52blocks / 52 weeks.  I’m having fun using up little scraps of blue! IMG_3011

All of the purple blocks are competed now for Good Fortune.  Next is to put the centre together and make the borders … pieced borders.

Having one UFO completed and the next one is sandwiched … I’m feeling much better about the state of my UFOs.

    • Hi Kathleen!

      Thank you!
I’m always amazed at how different colours make a quilt look quite different!

Yes, my husband is codependent! He’d probably quilt (and likely do WAY better than me) if he wasn’t busy working on house renovations! 🙂

      Happy Quilting! 🙂

  2. Hi Gail! Yay to finished another UFO, and Ivan’s Diamonds is a lovely one. I just love this pattern and all of the fabrics you chose for all three versions. It’s nice that this one is for you, too. That flannel backing makes it extra snuggly. ~smile~ Roseanne

    • Hi Roseanne,
Thank you! I know you love the pattern!
I’ve never kept a quilt just for me! Sometimes for the house, for company to use or for one of the beds … but this is the first for me, myself and I.
      Happy Quilting, my friend! 🙂
