New project reality!

83805-_dsc0230OK … in my last post, I talked about how I was going to follow along with Caroline and watch her tutorial videos to make a wonderful zippered bag.  Reality set in and I thought, “Who are you kidding???? You can’t start ANOTHER new project.  SEW … the zippered bag was not started … I didn’t even pull fabric to do one.  However, you can.  You can see the first video HERE.  The videos will be on Youtube and I can watch them in the future when I’m ready to make a zippered bag!

52 Blocks 52 Weeks#52blocks52weeks

I have caught up:  Blocks 5 & 6 are done!  It is fun making these little 6″ blocks.  They don’t take to long at all.  Except for the neutral, I’m only using blue fabric that is in my blue scrap bag …  So far, the bag is still full! (Do completing blocks 5 & 6 make for a “Friday Finish?”

Jelly Roll Rug

I signed up to take a class with the guild tomorrow! The lady teaching it is an awesome teacher, so she will help my rug making to be successful.  I went to my tote of Kansas Troubles, and along with a few reproduction fabrics, I made my own jelly roll.  Except for the dark for the final round, the fabrics are all mixed up.  I’m using stash and that makes me happy!

  2. It’s hard to pass up the fun stuff. Hopefully with one more year of focus on your older projects, you’ll have cleared your slate so you can do lots of fun stuff next year.

      Yes, the fun stuff is soooooo tempting!!!
      Ha! I’ll have more than one year of focussing on my UFOs … the PHD program will last for a few more years!

  4. Hi Gail, can’t wait to see your jelly roll rug and read about the tips you learned. I want to make one someday for my office 🙂 I still plan to make Caroline’s pouch — waiting for all three lessons to be on You Tube to binge watch!

  5. Hi Gail! I hope you had fun at your jelly roll rug class today. That is a class I would like to take someday. How nice that you are using stash – that is super fabulous. I have been printing the 52-blocks-in-52-weeks patterns but haven’t started making them yet. And that cute little zipper bag will wait for you! ~smile~ Roseanne

      It was fun! You’ll read all about it tomorrow (if I get the post written!) Even with having the pattern, I was super glad to take the class! So many little hints and tips that made it easier!
      I just had to use stash … I have so much!
      The #52blocks52weeks are quick and easy to do!
      And yes, the zipper will wait for me!

  7. There are so many QALs out there, it’s difficult to say no. Sometimes, you just have to pass one by. I looked at the pouch tutorial too, thought about it, and decided not to. I have plenty to keep me busy! You have some fun projects going on!

      You are sew right! There are so many out there and it is HARD to say “No”. I really want to do it all … but I’d need a 100 hour day, with no sleep to even attempt half of them!
