Monday update

An Old Favourite, just made different!

IMG_5757

I posted a little about this quilt yesterday.  You can read about it HERE.

I love this quilt!  It uses Island Batik’s “Quiet Shades” and their solid white batik.  Wonderful fabrics to work with!  The batting is Hobbs 80/20 and it’s quilted with Aurifil thread #2000.  It’s another version of my popular quilt “Ivan’s Diamonds” or “Scrappy Pink.”

Here’s another version that Barb made when we were at a retreat.  It’s almost the same as the above quilt, just substituting solid white blocks in the corners.  Quite effective, eh? I love how the different fabrics make the quilt look SEW different!

These were made by participants in a class I taught. Lots of variations and different looks with different fabrics!

PHD in 2019: Quilting UFOs and Finishing New Projects

I only have 2 little baby quilts to finish for 2019 (from my starts in 2019) and ONE UFO to finish … I think I might make my PHD in 2019!   (And yes, if you look closely, I have finished my Island Batik projects for December!)

  1. One of my favorite things about classes and online stitch alongs is to see how other fabrics look in the featured pattern. It’s so cool to see how color and value shift the focus. Good luck on your PhD sewing, you are so close. I pretty much failed my PhD this year.

    • Hi Kate,
I agree – it’s always neat to see how colour/value changes things!
You did not FAIL you PHD this year!!! You’re just like a lot of university students that extend their PhD into another year! 🙂
      Happy Quilting! 🙂

  2. Hi Gail! I still have Ivan’s Diamonds on my list of quilts to make. I was so impressed with his story – I just LOVE that you are teaching his quilt pattern and spreading the love. Thanks in advance for linking up tomorrow – you r.o.c.k.e.d. last week’s list! For sure. Here’s to another great week. ~smile~ Roseanne

    • Thanks, Roseanne!
I haven’t taught this class for a couple of years now. But participants are still making variations of the quilt! That makes me very happy!
Yes, I did rock last week’s list! I purposely made it more manageable! I’d rather have a tick and Done – than an xxx not done!
Thanks in advance for hosting TO DO!!!
      Happy Quilting! 🙂

    • Oh no!!! I have a total of 24 UFOs left. The 6 in the sheet are 6 that I hoped to get done this year. Obviously, I did a few alternative ones. I’m hoping that my UFOs will be gone in 2 more years!!! What a weight that will be off my shoulders!
      Happy Quilting, Donna! 🙂
