Embroidery Month

February is International Embroidery Month

SEW, what does this mean for me?

Well, I am trying to use my embroidery machine more!

Kreative Kiwi Zip PouchI told you that I worked with a friend and she made a cute little pouch.  Well, I had to make one … actually 2.

This is a free pattern from Kreative Kiwi.  It is all done in the hoop … zipper and all.  I made the one on the right first … and I realized that the embroidery didn’t really show up on the print … I like the 2nd one better.  I did make them 10% bigger and the pattern turned out just fine!

I also made a bunch of lace bookmarks for members of the book club I belong to.  Anita Goodesign – Lace Bookmarks. It was my first time trying lace and it was so much fun!  I hooped solvy and organza and went to town.  SO FUN!!  I soon realized that the organza didn’t necessarily need to be the same colour as the bookmark … so freedom reigned.  I had lots of fun experiementing with different colours!

  2. OMG, Gail those bookmarks are amazing! I really like both of your pouches and thanks for sharing the Zentangle presentation with us. I always thought that it would make amazing FMQ! Thanks for linking up to Free Motion Mavericks.

    • Glad you liked the presentation!
As for the bookmarks … it’s a matter of setting up the embroidery machine, choosing thread and pressing a button. Easy peasy!
Thank you for hosting Free Motion Mavericks!

  4. Great bags! So glad you are using more embroidery machine more. I made our guild’s donation quilt for this year and digitized some really pretty butterflies and added some embellishments. I stitched them on my Bernina 830 with the 10×16 hoop! If you care to look, you can check my blog home page. There is a snippet of the quilt there!
