Dust bunnies?

Nothing too exciting this week.  I did finish my April Island Batik challenge … but of course, I can’t show you until April.

How am I?

I’m feeling a bit unfocused!  The other day, I sewed for about 10 minutes and then I HAD to organize my zippers [i don’t know why – i’ve never done so before]…  Then I sewed for about 5 minutes and then I HAD to tidy up a box of fabic [OK … it was a huge mess and needed to be cleaned up] … Then I sewed for about 3 minutes and then HAD to sweep the floor and gather the dust bunnies … Then, it was time for a break … Sigh … but the zippers are still organized, as is the box I tidied … but the dust bunnies escaped and multiplied and are taking over!!!!  Thankfully, this is from the floor and not from inside a sewing machine!!!  And this is just today’s bounty … and I did sweep yesterday as well!  fullsizeoutput_c9e

ANYHOW … enough of my First World Problem!   On to quilting!

Design Wall

Piecing:

Donation Quilt:  On Facebook, I challenged the guild members to make a donation quilt by next Friday … the inspiration for this came from the cancelled Baby Quilt Kit Making day that had been scheduled for Saturday.  There are a few that have taken up the challenge, and some are almost finished!  Me?  Well, I haven’t even started.  Do I make a quick baby quilt? Finish a flimsy for donation?  I’m un-decided … but I better make up my mind soon, eh?

Frolic:  One border is done on 1 side …

10 blocks completed this week … the picture on the left is not from this week … I have a sneaking suspicion that I will be making more than one quilt from these blocks.

Stay at Home Round Robin:  The 2nd row (piano keys) is on and you can read about it / watch the video about it HERE.   And, below is a picture of the 2 quilts with their piano key borders on.

Quilting:

No quilting happening right now.

Stitchin’ Time

I’m aiming for at least 15 minutes / day.   Even with a sore back, I’m managing 15 minutes a day …

  • 15 min days/ March = 29/29
  • Total days in 2020:  88/89
  • Percentage = 98%

    During these times, I find myself organizing as well. You name it, I’m organizing it…..you’re not alone. Your blocks are lovely and soon, I’m sure, your sewing machine will be whirring away on your donation quilt! Your star block is lovely, absolutely lovely. Take good care!

  2. I’ve used some of my “unfocused” time to do those 10-minute or so not-so-fun tasks that keep piling up. Like last weekend I turned two pair of my son’s pants with holes in the knees into pants–a quick task but not my favorite, and it was nice to get those pants out of my pile! My biggest problem is prying myself away from the computer–I really don’t want to be on it, especially after working from home all day, but it’s hard to get up and move into the sewing room. Sounds like your distractions are productive!

  3. I think lots of us are having a difficult time focusing right now…there’s just so much going on. And don’t even get me started on the dust bunnies! I scooped up an entire family of them this morning from underneath the longarm, and yes, they do multiply hourly…. 🙂 Thanks for linking to MCM!

  6. Hi Gail! For not being focused your to-do list has a LOT of checkmarks! I think your unfocused paragraph sounds exactly – EXACTLY – like what is happening here. Sew a minute or two, go iron, fiddle around with something else that caught my eye, sew another minute, try to get the threads off the design wall, go take a break. Good grief.   7. I feel so much better knowing someone else has dust bunnies! I rounded mine up yesterday too; well, at least the ones on the top level of my house. Ha! I get distracted like that too, fiddling with funny little things because suddenly I just need to. Sure makes my quilt room look better though! Maybe it’s our need for order when our outside home order is all topsy-turvy.

  8. Yes, Gail, the dust bunnies have multiplied and taken over my place as well! Unfortunately, what I thought was severe sciatica is actually shingles, so I don’t know what I’ll be able to do in the next few weeks. I surely haven’t felt like anything this last week. We all just have to hang in there and try to keep a sense of humor!
