PHD in 2020: June 1 Report

Well, I have completed 12 UFOs for my PHD in 2020.  That’s the number I said I would complete!  The UFOs that I complete in the remaining months of the year will be a bonus!

Here are all the finished ones!

Revising My PHD in 2020

Obviously, I’m not going to sit on my duff and not finish any more UFOs this year!  I have 27 UFOs left to complete … In my books, that’s 27 too many!

SEW … my plan is to complete at least 6 more.  If I get more done – that’ll be a bonus!

When I made my original plan (obviously not set in stone) I listed 12 UFOs that I hoped to complete.  As time went on, I finished several that were not on the original list.    My new plan is to complete 5 that are on the original list, plus one more.

Here’s a list and pictures of the 5 incomplete UFOs …

  1. Scrappy Repro
  2. Summer Solstice
  3. Echo Lake T-shirt
  4. Dog & Cat
  5. Murder mystery

Now … I DO NOT expect any of the participants in PHD in 2020 to revise their goals … Just keep on working on what you’re working on!

Winner of Island Batik fabrics – Ultimate Home Decor Blog Hop

When I posted my May Island Batik challenge, I offered a chance for Canadians to win some fabric.  You can read that post HERE.

I used a random number generator to pick the winner …  Yes, there were only 11 entries that I accepted.  The winner needs to live in Canada – so many US entries were omitted.  Sorry …

Anyhow, I’ve sent the winner an email … If I don’t hear back from them by June 3rd, I will be picking another winner.

Winnie the Pooh Sew-along

I haven’t started this yet … so I’m not sure what the schedule will be, but I do plan to start the sew-along on June 8.  In the meantime, you can access the pattern HERE. (scroll down the page).  There are 3 sizes to choose from.  Your choice as to which size you choose.  There is also a HONEY quilt you can purchase that has the 4 characters in it.  SEW CUTE!!!  There are no fabric requirements for the pattern … I will be making the large size and will let you know approximately how much fabric you will need for the faces.

  1. Hi Gail! Fab-uuuuuuu-lous job. I love that you extended your goal for six more. That’s seems quite doable Plus you’ll be so close to having your remaining UFOs near the teens. How exciting. ~smile~ Roseanne

    • Thanks, Roseanne!
I figured I better change my UFO goal … otherwise I’d just focus on squirrels and more squirrels with the occasional DREAMI … this way, I’m ‘forced’ to work on some UFOs!
      Happy Quilting! 🙂

  2. Congratulations! I always like to be done early and you hit this one out of the park – as they say. Can’t wait to see what you do to keep occupied. I have a couple of quick ones I hope to finish in June to get a little ahead of the game myself.

    • Hi Kathleen!
      Thank you!
Well, some of these UFOs might morph into more than one quilt … Florabunda morphed into 3 … the t-shirt quilt might do something similar … Will have to wait and see.
Good for you, planning to get ahead on your UFOs!
      Happy Quilting! 🙂

  3. I found your great blog and saw several things that I would like to do too. However, I only found instructions in vides and no written instructions. But since I don’t have a PC near the sewing machine and the way to the PC there and back is too far, I only work according to written instructions. Where can I find something like that ?? Or is your blog just something with sewing machines integrated with PC?

So I have z. B. interested in the Stay at Home Round Robin or Floribunda.

I also looked for an email addy to contact me, but unfortunately without success. Can you help me?

    Sorry for my bad english.

    • Your English is fine!

Thank you for your kind comments regarding my blog!

Sorry, I do not provide written instructions for quilt patterns that are not mine. That would highly violate plagiarism laws …

The Florabunda pattern is one of Bonnie Hunter’s free patterns and you can access it on this page: https://quiltville.blogspot.com/2011/06/floribunda-re-post.html If you read this page, you will find a link that will take you to a pdf of the pattern which you can then print.

As for the Stay at Home Round Robin … I will post a summary of it in an upcoming blog and you can then print it out.

I have also replied to you via email.

      In the meantime, Happy Quilting!

    • Yeah Pamela!!! Congratulations on completing UFOs!
I know that you HAVE to create at least ONE new project every month for Island Batik. But those are fun, aren’t they?
      Happy Quilting! 🙂

  4. 12 finishes is awesome. Well done!! I managed to get one UFO completed this week. But I’ve got backings picked out for a few more to finish.

    • YEAH!!! Anja! I saw your completed UFO! A lovely finish!!
If you’ve got backings picked out – you’re almost to the finish line on those quilts!
      Happy Quilting! 🙂
