Winnie the Pooh Quilt A Long
Day 16
Here’s my quilt … all quilted …
There are swirls in all of the white (background) areas as well as the sashing and borders. Then on the heads, I used a ruler and quilted ½” lines. The quilting threads matched the fabric – or was a close match.
Here’s a close-up of Eeyore:
And, as I posted this picture, I realize that I need to quilt the white of his eyes. The weird area on the right grey part is just the shadow from taking this picture while the wind was blowing!

Piecing:
I made a bunch of “DOVE” bags (simple drawstring bags) and some masks. I’ve changed the pattern that I use for masks … my son’s girlfriend asked if I could replicate a mask she really likes … sew, I used it as a pattern, added a seam allowance and viola! They’re a LOT faster to make and there’s no fiddling with those fussy pleats.
Summer Solstice: I’m back to thinking about working on my Summer Solstice quilt. These are pictures from March and February … sew … I need to sew, not just think about it.
Quilting:
Nothing being quilted right now!
Stash Report
No shopping. Dove bags used up about 1 yard of fabric and the masks used up about 1/2 yard … Winnie the Pooh used 5.5 yards from my stash. Stitchin’ Sunshine used 2 yards for the back. (See HERE).

Stitchin’ Time
I am aiming for 30 minutes/day – at least! I switched from 15 minutes / day to 30 minutes/day in April!

- 30 min days/ June: 21 / 21
- Total days in 2020: 172/ 173
- Percentage = 99%

I haven’t decided if I’m going to add Eeyore’s tail or not … it actually wasn’t part of the free pattern … and I’ve been too busy with other things to figure it out. Although, I do know it wouldn’t be that hard to do!

Your Winnie the Pooh quilt came out fantastic, Gail! I love the contrast between the ruler work and softer curved quilting motifs in the background. And the way you oriented those 1/2″ lines on each animal’s face even gives the illusion of 3-D. Great job!

Your Winnie the Pooh quilt is adorable! Congrats for not only finishing the assembly, but getting it quilted too. You’ve done so well on all your quilty stats this year. It’s not even the end of June and you’ve met so many goal! Hope this week is as good.

Hi Gail! That QAL seems to have passed by so quickly and now here’s a pretty quilt for your work. I love how you quilted this piece and Eeyore’s eyes look fine not being quilted to me. It makes them stand out a bit. I really admire the background swirls. They all look so uniform and just the perfect size. Thanks for linking up this week and good luck with your list. Love your finished Winnie the Pooh quartet! I ended up not sewing along; I’ve got a huge work project right now that’s eating up time & energy and haven’t gotten as much sewing time the last few weeks. I’m hoping that’s about to change. I haven’t made any masks without pleats, now you have me curious to try one.

I certainly won’t be making any more pleated masks! These ones are SEW simple to make!

I haven’t downloaded yet but I will. I LOVE Lorna’s patterns and have made several. Which mask pattern are you using?

I just traced the one I was given – adding 1/4″ seam allowance. However, Laundry Basket Quilts has a free download that is similar. I added about 1″ on the ends where the elastic is attached … folded that over and it becomes a casing for the elastic. Makes it super easy for the wearer to adjust the elastic to suit them.
