Is a Decision a Finish?

In Monday’s post, I talked about my latest UFO and how I wasn’t sure what to do with the 4 patches. Should I make a small quilt or a couple of snap bags?

I was leaning towards a quilt and then Carol from Quilt Schmilt suggested that I put them on point. I’ve made several 4 patch quilts on point and I really like them. Thanks, Carol for the push in that direction!!! (Aren’t blogging friends just great?)

SEW, I decided to make a small quilt with alternating plain blocks. I used a Free Spirit solid called “Shell.”

I have the rows mostly pieced – without the setting triangles … I still need to figure out their size … Then I’ll join the rows together. I’m looking forward to quilting this quilt! I will do a whole bunch of different motifs in each block!

Sew is a Decision a Finish?

Well, it’s not a finish … but it’s on it’s way to being a finish. Much better than languishing waiting for a decision. I want to get those UFOs done Done DONE!!!

Thread

A blogging friend of mine, Gene Black, posted about 4 different thread sand what he found looking through a microscope. He talks about the twists and how it relates to lint. Visit his blog “Gene Black an Alabama Artist” to read all about it. I found it fascinating. Nothing super scientific – just observations!

One who sleeps under a quilt is covered by LOVE!

Happy Quilting!

  1. You can’t get to a finish till you make all the decisions. That’s my problem with my BOM projects. Sometimes I can’t figure out how I want to finish them, so they sit in the UFO pile for a while. The on point setting really works, it’s going to be a fun little finish.

  2. Hi Gail! I’m so glad Carol gave you a little gentle nudge and suggestion. I think this looks great on point! I never know how to figure out what size the setting triangles need to be but I use EQ8 for that (and round up just in case). I imagine there is some math equation out there for this – I just haven’t looked. I am looking forward to seeing this quilted, especially since you are looking forward to doing it! ~smile~ Roseanne

    • Hi Roseanne,
Yes, I’m grateful to Carol for the suggestion!!!
I’m sure that there’s a chart out there … somewhere … that has the correct size. I know I found one and the size was SEW wrong, it was frustrating! It’s probably a simple math equation … but it’s been a zillion years since I took algebra, geometry and trig … too many years … 🙂
