Sew It – Show It: Picnic Party

My thanks go to Carol from “Just Let Me Quilt” for organizing the Picnic Party  Blog Hop!

This is the instructions we were given :

Show us your favorite picnic projects!

Something to use for a picnic (example – basket, tote, etc.) and/ora square quilt (example – 50″ x 50″ or any square measurement)

I didn’t want to make a quilt … but a tote for our picnics! Perfect! Most of our lunch totes are not tall enough for a thermos when it’s cool out and you want to pack a warm beverage! I searched high and low for a pattern I wanted to make … but alas, I just made it up as I went along!

It’s big enough for a thermos, containers of sandwiches and snacks! Just perfect for our picnics when we travel in the fall or early spring!

It’s made with Island Batik scraps of “Wild Blooms” and Island Batik solid black.

As you can see from the picture on the right, the camper isn’t on the truck, so we won’t be heading out any time soon!

    • Thanks, Marsha! We absolutely LOVE our camper. We’ve had it since ’06 and have literally been across the country twice in it! And many many short trips as well!

  1. Hi Gail, that’s a great tote – sometimes you just have to make it yourself (the pattern and the tote!) Thanks for linking up to Free Motion Mavericks. I’m sure that it will come in handy in the fall. Take care.

  2. Oh, too bad you aren’t heading out on the road. That’s my favorite thing – full timed for 5 years and would do it again in a heartbeat. The tote was a great idea, and such pretty scraps. thank you!

  3. I love this bag and how you created it to meet your needs. It looks like it will fit that thermos and lots of other yummy picnic treats! I hope you get to take that pretty and big bag out soon! Thanks for sharing.
