Boundary Bay Quilt Guild 2019

I belong to Boundary Bay Quilt Guild and we’re having a show this coming weekend on Saturday and Sunday!  Click on the link below and it will take you to a web page that has hours and maps and a picture of one of the raffle quilts.  If you live in the area, it’s a show to NOT miss!

Boundary Bay Quilter’s Guild Biennial Quilt Show

This show is not juried – but some of our members are super talented!  I have put in 4 quilts that you have already seen – if you follow my blog.  Can you guess which ones they are?  I will show you after the show.   There are also a couple of challenge quilts that I will show you later as well.

Here is a slide show of only a few of the quilts that were in the 2017 show.  It was Canada’s 150th Celebration in 2017, so we had a booth highlighting 150 Years of Quilting in Canada.  Enjoy!

Happy Quilting!

Christmas RAPPers Blog Hop

Christmas RAPPers blog.jpg

There is a book … a wonderful, delightful book called Christmas RAPPing. And it’s definitely a book you want to consider buying!

Christmas RAPPing … isn’t that title just so very very cute?  It’s “Christmas Quilts featuring Reverse Applique & Paper Piecing.”  Two extremely talented  ladies joined forces to put together the wonderful quilts, wall hangings and table runners in this book.  Oh – and there is also Christmas ornaments!  I was totally amazed at the variety of designs … indeed there is something for everyone in this book!

The 2 talented ladies are Nan and Margaret.  By talented, I mean TALENTED! You can check out their social media sites as listed at the end of this blog post.

SEW, I know that you want to take a look at all the projects that have been made from this book!  Here is a list of links of each of the participants.  Click on the name of the blog and it will take you to their site.  The Blog Hop starts tomorrow!

And those of you that know me … you know how much I love CR-applique!  Are you ever in for a surprise!

The Quilt Police

Image result for Quilt police cartoonOh – they exist!  They really really do!!!  And there’s even a blog to prove it!

If you go to THIS POST, you can read her introduction.  And although she is a police woman, and was teased about being the Quilt Police (hense her blog name), she asserts that she is NOT the Quilt Police. unknown-jpg

She is a scrappy quilter (a woman after my own heart!) and has currently been posting a series of different blocks.  It is worth going to take a look at her blog!

Conclusion:

There is a Quilt Police blog, but Quilt Police really do not exist.

SEW … what have I been working on?

I’ve been working on my secret project, started an 2nd secret project and have been working on this paper piecing quilt as a leader and ender. This is a UFO from 2016.  fullsizeoutput_a6d

OK … SEW, now you’re asking how I can paper piece as a leader & ender?  Doesn’t that involve switching stitch lengths and every thing?  Well, for those that know me, I paper piece without sewing on the paper.  Yes, it can be done!  This is the 4th quilt I’ve made from this Judy Neimeyer pattern (Fractured Paint Box)  and I have lots of papers left to make more quilts from this pattern.

Happy Quilting!

Fun Times

It’s a lot of fun when we have company come.  Especially a family with 4 kids that we LOVE!!!  The youngest son was asking me about my quilts and we scrolled through the pictures on my computer and he said, “that’s my quilt!”  As soon as they got home his younger sister and he had their pictures taken with their quilts … I made these several years ago – before I started blogging.  I LOVE that they are still LOVED~

Island Batik

If you want to see the newest fabric and patterns from Island Batik … go to the Spring and Summer 2019 Catalog.  Be prepared for an online magazine full of the most beautiful  fabric and tons of patterns for wonderful quilts and tuffets, clothing and other projects.

Version 2

I received these Aurifil threads in the mail today!  The dark purple is 40 wt, blue is 12 wt and the pink is 28 wt.  Very pretty!!!  I need to use all 3 weights in an upcoming Island Batik Challenge.

What will I do?  I’m not sure.  I haven’t used 12 wt or 28 wt thread before.  I used 40 wt once on a quilt. It will be fun to come up with something that uses all 3 weights of thread! Continue reading

Beginning of April!

WHAT?

I know I often see other’s writing on their blogs and saying “Where did the month go to?”   And, I’ve often thought, “really? It went by one day at a time!”  YUP – one day at a time and each day FLEW by this month.  So fast!  So very fast, I’m wondering, “Where did the month go to?”

This is Week 4: Unit C of the Daisy Chain Mystery. The blocks on the lower left are all trimmed, I still need to trim about half of them.  This step is a little time consuming, but not too bad!  And easy to do.  The directions are very clear and easy to follow.  It’s still not too late to join in the mystery.
