National Jelly Roll Giveaway

Well, it’s almost National Jelly Roll Day in the US – on September 21 … but I live in Canada … so can we call it INTERNATIONAL Jelly Roll Day???

And no, I’m not talking about cake, or Swiss rolls!

And, while I’m being a bit cheeky … as an ambassador for Island Batik, their Jelly rolls are called Strip Sets.

“Jelly Roll” is actually a trademark for Moda. All other fabric companies have to name the strips differently to avoid copyright infringement. They all have a collection of 2 1/2” Strips. Some are full collections of 40 – 42 strips and some are ‘baby’ collections of 20 strips.

Here is just a few of the alternate names for “Jelly Roll”:

  • “Strip-pies” or “Strippies” from Benartex
  • “Strip Roll” from QT Fabrics
  • Stripz and Spirals from an unnamed brand
  • Design Rolls are from Free Spirit Fabrics
  • Roll Ups from Robert Kaufman
  • Pops or Bali Pops are from Hoffman Fabrics
  • Rollie Pollie from Riley Blake
  • Strip Set is from Island Batik

So, I know you’re wondering what the giveaway is? Well, I received 2 Jelly Rolls an Island Batik Strip Set (Tranquil) and a baby Riley Blake Rollie Pollie (Handpicked Produce – a variety of solid greens) from Missouri Star. The idea is that I’m to keep one of them and give the other away.

If you know me, you know that I’d automatically pick the Island Batik Strip Set and give the other away. However, I’m going to be a rebel and give BOTH of them away! Sew, in order to win one of these, you must follow both Missouri Star (@missouriquiltco) and myself (@quiltinggail) on Instagram. On the Instagram post, you must tell me which one you would like. I will be choosing the winner on Sept. 27 and the fabric will be sent out on Sept. 30.

  1. While I don’t do IG either, I’m perfectly OK with the rules. We all make choices — like you rebeling against the “one jelly roll give-away” and making it two giveaways. I like your style! Lol! Looking forward to the JRMQ!
