Sunday Summary: November 3

I’m trying, I’m really trying to NOT buy any fabric!!! I definitely shop my stash first!!!

November’s colour is Teal. Visit Jen at Patterns by Jen to get your free pattern for this month. It’s free for the month and after that you’ll need to pay a small fee for it.

I’m using Island Batik fabrics for my blocks.

Here are my blocks to date:

I finished this little mini awhile ago and sent it to Steph at Hobbs Batting and it hung in their booth at Quilt Market in Houston.

This was made with a new fabric line that will be available in 2025. It is called Petal Poetry. This mini is 12″ square, Hobbs Tuscany Wool batting is in the middle and Aurifil Thread was used for the quilting.

Kate, from Life in Pieces, is hosting “Stitching Stuff” and the goal is to sew for at least 15 minutes a day. I use Kate’s guideline, but my personal goal is to sew for 30 minutes a day. On those “blah” days, it does motivate me to sit at my machine and 30 minutes often turns into several hours. Thank you Kate for the motivation!

Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “What’s on your Design Wall” every week.

Piecing projects:

  • SAHRR ’25: working on Prompt #6
  • December’s Island Batik project

Quilting:

  • Floral Fusion: not started, yet
  • Jelly Roll Mystery:

Donna at Quilt Paint Create hosts a weekly linky party where you can display your stash numbers. This has really kept my stash from growing (somewhat!) Before I buy anything, I am always mindful of the fact that I need to report it on my blog … That sometimes stops me in my tracks!

I bought 2.5 yards of solid red fabric to coordinate with a Christmas fabric that I have.

  • Fabric Used in the last week:  0.5 yards
  • Fabric Used in 2024:     184 yards  from non-IB: 77
  • Fabric Added in the last week: 2.5 yards
  • Fabric Added this year:     32 yards
  • Net Fabric used:              152 yards

Carol from Quilt Schmilt is hosting “To Do” every week.

  1. Gail your mini is absolutely stunning and perfectly showcases that new line of IB fabric. I’ll be watching for it to come out next year! Your colour blocks are all lovely. I’m so looking forward to seeing your blog hop projects! Thank you for linking with To Do Tuesday. Hope you’ve had another good week and managed to finish some things on your list 🤗

  2. You’ve done pretty well with your quilt metrics this year. I struggle with the shopping the stash first. But I’m getting better at pulling fabrics and then buying just what I need to supplement if I don’t have exactly what I need in the stash. Hope November is another productive month for you.
