Did I, or Didn’t I?

Quilting Labyrinth #2

IMG_1678

I have started quilting Labyrinth #2.  I’m starting by stitching in the ditch around all the major sections.  Then I’ll free-motion the rest.

Labyrinth 1-1The quilting will be very similar to what I did in this Labyrinth #1.

Do you remember way back in March in this blog post when I told you I was working on a secret project for a table runner exchange and that the theme was “winter.”  Well sadly, the table runner didn’t get finished in time for the exchange at the retreat.  And sew … it’s still on my design wall …

Here is a picture of the table runners that were exchanged.  Pretty neat, eh?  I’m sorry to have missed the chance to have one of these made by wonderful quilting friends!

Did I, or Didn’t I …

Start another mystery quilt.  I LOVE mystery quilts.  I find that they stretch my skill level. I usually end up making something that I often wouldn’t have made if it wasn’t a mystery quilt.

Sew … as I was debating about making Tish’s Fireburst Mystery Quilt, another blogger, Carole, emailed me.  She told me the mystery quilt currently in progress on her blog “From my Carolina Home.”  The mystery is called “Square Dance”.  It’s intriguing: the clues that have already been posted are “Do-si-do,”  “Come down the Middle” and “Allemand Left.”  She has 4 sizes to choose from … from table topper to king.

SEW … Now I have 2 mystery quilts to choose from.  Oh me, Oh my … what will I do?

The temptation is pulling me to start 2 new quilts … but I will resist.  I hope!

Other options:

And there are 2 other quilt-alongs happening.  Just in case YOU want to start a new project.  These 2 Quilt-alongs have sponsors and will be offering prizes.  Sounds great, don’t they?  I would consider both of these, but my UFOs have priority at the moment.

  • Plus Playtime Quilt Along @ mmm! quilts  This is a plus quilt … And she shows 2 variations. One with a dark background and one with a light.
  • Partners in Design Group are hosting a “Fall into a QAL.”  I met several of the designers in the 2017 New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop.  If you go to Janda Bend Quilts, you can get all the details.  Update:  One of the designers, Kathleen, of Kathleen McMusing, wrote and told me that you can win prizes by just doing the blocks that you like … you don’t have to do the whole quilt.  That is a pretty sweet deal!  Are you going to join in?

  1. Mystery quilts are such fun. I wouldn’t blame you if you decided to play along with one or both. I’m trying really hard to stay strong and not start anything new that’s not already on my list. I really want to get those UFOs off my list this year.

  2. Hi Gail,
Shoot about not finishing the table runner for the retreat. I’m sure you will still finish it though – I like the fabric you shared. Yippee to quilting the second labyrinth. I’m not saying a word about the QALs – I know how tempting they are, and I’m weak. I’m out.

    • SEW – you’re keeping quiet about the QALs … good for you!

The table runner fabric I shared is the B&W photo of it … it’s actually a pretty blue.
      Happy Quilting! 🙂

    • Hey! You are not helping 🙂 … giving me permission to start new quilts!!!!

In January, I started a challenge “PHD in 2018” and part of that challenge is not only finish UFOs, but to compete everything you start in 2018. SEW … with every new project I start – that’s a project I have to finish!

      Happy Quilting!

  4. Well, the big does get us sometimes! I am doing Tish’s and Sandra’s QAL. Sandra accused me of calling her the shadow quilter, so I felt obliged. I enjoyed last years and I found something fun when shopping at a show. Tish’s I was on the fence about but the schedule looked far enough away and I have fabric I can use from the stash – Win! Oh, and as one of the designers, you can win prizes by just doing the ones you choose – not having to worry about finishing the top! So jump on board – love yo see you in one or all of these!!

    • Hi Kathleen,
I am really trying to finish off UFOs this year! Trying hard … but all these temptations keep adding up!

I updated my blog post to include the info about wining prizes for doing the blocks you choose. Wow – that’s a WIN-Win!

      Happy Quilting 🙂

  5. The Square Dance mystery is my first. I’ve always wanted to do a mystery but didn’t want to commit to a full quilt. The table topper option and straight line sewing sold me. I’ve been enjoying this mystery sew along!

So far I’ve resisted Sandra’s Plus QAL but it’s been hard! But I really need to finish the two tops from the 30 day 30 block challenge!! Ah so many quilts…sew little time!

    • Hi Susan,
Yes, doing a table topper makes it sort-of doable … maybe!

You are so correct … so many quilts … sew little time!

      Happy Quilting 🙂
