In my attempt at being diligent at keeping my sewing room tidy – I was vacuuming and was STABBED by a wire sticking out of the hose.
My husband is always great at solving problems and I told him that there was a wire sticking out of the vacuum hose. He’s an electrician and I was positive that he could fix the problem! He took the hose to the garage.
When he returned, I got a lecture (sort of) that went like this:
- Hubby: So you think it was a wire?
- Me: Definitely
- Hubby: Hold out your hand. (I did so. He put a short ‘wire’ into my hand. ) This isn’t a wire, it’s a pin!!! Can you see the head? (I put on my glasses and then I nodded yes). You’re lucky … if that pin had hit the wire in the hose, you could get a huge shock. I keep telling you to make sure you pick up your pins ….
And I won’t bore you with the rest of the conversation … I’m sure a lot of you can relate! π
The moral of the story … I guess I either have to be less diligent at cleaning or make sure that I pick up all my pins … but honestly, I know I already pick up the ones that I’m aware of falling to the floor. πβAnd, the pins I use have either a glass head or a button like thing on the end. They are easy to see!!!βSomeone else dropped the vacuum pin in my room, not me!
At some place like Harbor Freight, you can get a magnet on a wand. These are great for picking up pins.

Hi Gail! Obviously, SOMEone else dropped the pin in your room. You don’t need to be told to pick up a pin that has fallen. Duh. Really?!! I’m so glad you told me that, DH. I never would have thought of that on my own. Now, since you have a plethora of people living in your home (NOT), what did he need a pin for??!! And why didn’t he pick up the one that dropped, more importantly. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

I can relate, so have a telescoping magnet stick that I move around the floor from time to time to find the pins that are hiding from me.

Dropped pins are a menace when vacuuming. I have a magnetic pole that I loosely wave under my sewing table and by the design wall before I vacuum.βGlad nothing serious happened.β

Now, if you had a dog you could blame it on the dog!!!βI love it, if my sister comes for a visit and goes into my sewing room without shoes on she will find the “only” pin on the floor!

LOL!!! I can relate to your sister finding the only pin!!! My husband can find one when I’m not even using them! We have a grand dog, but I’d hate to blame the pin on her!

Haha – had to read this post out of curiousity! Glad I have vinyl floors in my quilt room, although carpet would be warmer π I’m pretty sure it wasn’t you who dropped that pin – we know our pins, right??! Glad you didn’t get zapped!

LOL!!! I have a vinyl floor as well. You’re right, carpet would be warmer, but it would also collect more dust and dust bunnies!
