Wendy chose the Slice Square with an insert. My Blocks started out at 5″ square. I cut them in half and inserted a 1″ strip of white in.

For my SAHRR 2025, I am using the Island Batik fabric collection “Poetic Bouquet,” designed by Kathy Engle for Heidi Pridemore of The Whimsical Workshop and Island Batik’s solid white.

Pictures of Round #3
- Liz added some very pretty stars! She said, “I “stole” your friendship star idea and decided to just do top & bottom as I don’t think I want a square quilt.” (It’s not stealing!!)
- Jacomina said, “It is starting to take shape. I have now used all of the dressmaking remnants from the fabric donated to the church quilting group. I hope I can use the fun fat quarters i bought in the next round.
- Judy B
- Katie in CT says: This is my 3rd time participating, but my first time sending in a picture. I started with the cute embroidered hedgehogs, and used them for the center of the King’s Cross block. My half square triangles turned into the star points, making the block into a large star. I’m hoping to use the next prompt for the corners of the star–I’m trying to keep this small.
- Carolyn says, “I put my 3rd week’s HSTs into 2 blocks and gave the cardinal and star blocks a border. Waiting for next week to decide on the other 2 blocks borders. Wavering between the Cardinal’s green or more red. ” Please note: Carolyn would like YOUR opinion on this! Please put you opinion in the comments! Thank you!
- Robin has double friendship stars (probably one of many names for this pretty star!)
- Rosie said “#1 is Rocky Road to Kansas for my and Kathleen’s initials, and because my dad’s family is from Kansas. For #2 I added corners to some leftover 4-patches to make half-square triangles and made more with the cut-offs for an extra round.”

We have Sponsors!
We reached out to several companies that we all LOVE and many of them agreed to sponsor the SAHRR 2025!!! We will keep track of all of the participants that link to our Linky parties each week. We will make a list and use a random number generator to choose the winners for each prize! So, if you link up to 3 Linky parties, you will have 3 opportunities to win! If you don’t have a blog or Instagram account, contact me, or one of the other co-hosts and we will post your SAHRR on our blog. This way you still have an opportunity to win!

Great round! I love how you used the dark and light blues–not quite alternating, but clearly planned. Your quilt looks fabulous so far! (This is Emily, I don’t know why I’m not showing up as logged in.)

Hi Emily!!! thank you !!! I didn’t like the all -dark blues, but putting the few light blues in was just what was needed.
The comment came up as “The Darling Dogwood” so I’m not sure what’s happening!

I love how you split your squares diagonally. This looks so good with your quilt.

Thanks, Brenda! I didn’t even think of splitting it across until I saw that others had done that! Makes for more variation!

I like the look created using the background color as the insert strip – it gives a framed effect! Cool!
