I know you’re wondering what the Arabesque pattern is!
Sandra Walker of mmmquilts asked me to test the pattern. If you haven’t figured it out yet, I love to test patterns. Sandra said that this quilt was her SAHRR (Stay at Home Round Robin) from this year. However, it looks totally different than mine! (You can see it HERE). It’s really hard to believe that it was the same round robin!
Now, Sandra’s finished quilt is quite dramatic and beautiful. Don’t you agree?

When Sandra asked, she suggested that the first 5 rounds would make a nice baby quilt, so that’s what I did!
I went to my stash and picked out the fabrics for the centre block and cut each round as I needed. This allowed me to use my stash and move fabrics around as I saw fit (or had sufficient fabric for). I have the first 5 rounds of the quilt done and am in the process of deciding on the backing. The binding will be the purple that I used for the centre square.
With the colours I chose, my quilt is not as dramatic as Sandra’s, but I think it’s quite pretty and will make a lovely baby quilt!

Carol, from Quilt Schmilt, also tested the pattern. She plans to make all the rounds, but first has to have a date with Jack the Ripper before she finishes it. Isn’t she brave to post a quilt that has a mistake in it? Visit Quilt Schmilt to see her version!
Where can you get the pattern?
You can go to Sandra’s Etsy shop and purchase it HERE. It will be on sale for $10 until Monday, December 8.
OR …. you post a comment here on my blog by midnight Sunday (Pacific time) and I will do a random draw on Monday and Sandra will send you the pattern for free. That gives you just over 24 hours to post a comment!

She is planning on doing another, so I suggest you go to her blog and follow her so that you don’t miss out! It will run from April 3 through June 15, 2026. And there is a rumour that this year it might be a mystery quilt.

Your version of Arabesque turned out beautifully. It’s always fun to see patterns done in different colorways. I remember Sandra working on this during the round robin. I’m still debating if I’m going to start the round robin next year. I have a lot of catching up to do, I may watch from the side lines for this next one.

Gail I love your version of Arabesque. It’s a perfect baby quilt. It’s nice to see you back again. So glad you are recovering from your broken ribs. That’s my biggest fear; incapacitating myself.
on another note, please tell me you are doing SAHRR 2026. 😉 I really need to get my quilting life back on track and it is my official way to start the year. 😆
