Yesterday, I taught a Tree Skirt class at Essem Textiles. There were only 2 students in the class, but I needed to put together a Tree Skirt, I decided to teach the class and work on my own at the same time.
They used a 9 degree ruler and found out how to make 9o or 18o wedges. One participant decided to mix them up, the other decided to go with just 18o wedges.
They both got the skirts assembled and sandwiched. They are both going to be beautiful when finished.

The one on the left will be bound with a solid green and the one on the right will be bound with a satin white bias tape.
I will show you my tree skirt in December!
Here are 2 tree skirts I have made using the wedge ruler. The one on the left is 36″ round, made with fabrics from Essem. The one on the right is about 50″ round made with Island Batik’s Winter Sky fabric collection.

Happy Quilting!

Hi Gail, how wonderful to teach such a small class. Your students practically got one-on-one attention:-)
Both your tree skirts look great but so different. Thanks for linking up to Free Motion Mavericks. Take care.

Thanks, Andrée! I usually don’t like to teach less than 3 students, but this time I had an ulterior motive! LOL!!!

Both tree skirts are beautiful but I do really like the one using the 9 and 18 inch rulers.

I, too, like the creativity of using different size wedges!
