A Little Finish

Happy Halloween!

A few months ago, I was asked to use some left-over fabric from a quilt I made for an Island Batik catalogue quilt and send the mini to Hobbs batting. They have hung it in their booth at the Houston Quilt Market! It’s probably the only time I’ll have a quilt at the show (ha! ha!)

The collection for this mini is Petal Poetry, a signature collection for Megan Best of Best Quilter. This collection is so very pretty!

I ‘borrowed’ the following pictures from Hobbs Batting as I can’t seem to find one that I took. I find that highly unusual since I ALWAYS take pictures of my finished projects … but I’ve looked several times and can’t find it!

Here's the Mini Quilt I made for Hobbs batting.

I used all 20 SKUs in this mini!

Yvonne, @ Quilting Jetgirl, has a link party with the Favourite Finish of the Month. As usual, I find it extremely difficult to choose only ONE favourite!! How can I even begin to choose only ONE??? Well, I can’t! I guess it’s because I generally like everything that I make! Which one is your favourite?

I am now a Silly Moon affiliate! So what does that mean? When you use my affiliate code Quiltinggail2024 at Silly Moon, you will receive 10% off your order and I will receive a small commission.

One who sleeps under a quilt is covered by LOVE!

  2. It’s hard for me to choose a favorite too – I love them all. It’s so awesome your sweet little mini Dresden is hanging at Houston! I’m on a Dresden plate trend too – even thinking about using Dresdens for my December project! Have a great weekend! I hope this post comes through, my last one disappeared!!

  3. Your Dresden mini really showcases all those fabrics. It’s been awhile since I’ve been at the Houston Quilt Show. As much as I loved all the intricately pieced and artistic applique quilts, I missed seeing the type of pieced quilts most of us make. Not to take away from those very talented people who win at the festival, having a quilt at Houston is out of reach for most quilters.

  5. I haven’t used batiks for a long time and pulled out the box recently to start something. The problem with batiks is that they are so pretty I don’t want to cut them! Love what you did with these. I did make one years ago and it gets prettier with age! Thanks for this! (And your pumpkin is hilarious! Next year……..)

    • Hi Joan, yes, it can be hard to cut into the pretty batiks … but just think … who can admire them besides you? My advice is to start cutting them up and make some pretty quilts!

      • I LOVE to quilt – each child in the family gets a quilt at birth and one for their wedding (or 40th birthday). I also quilt for a Children’s Nursing home. They love BRIGHT COLORS. The batik has many properties that make them good for these kids. The fabrics get BETTER with repeated hot water wash, they are so soft, and if you are a dreamer, like sometimes you see puppies and the clouds? and in the batiks! Thanks!
