Missouri Star Christmas Templates and TGIFF

It’s September and if they can have Christmas in June or July, it’s not too early to think about Christmas!

A few years ago, I was sent a set of the Missouri Star Christmas Template Bundle Set 2. These are pictures of me cutting out appliqués with the small templates. There was a contest on my Instagram page where someone could win a set of the templates. It was won by a lady in Nova Scotia.

I wrote a post about using the templates for a Christmas card (see HERE).

Fast forward to now …

I came across this placemat, appliqué pieces attached, just sitting all by itself in a container. Well, I rescued it and made it into a placemat. The quilt guild I belong to makes placemats for Meals of Wheels at Christmas time. I decided this would make the perfect placemat since it doesn’t need a companion and it would give it a purpose!

Each of the appliqué pieces were adhered with glue and then zig-zagged to hold them in place. After it was sandwiched, I did a small stipple around each one. It is bound with Island Batik’s solid black fabric.

To make it useful throughout the year, not just for Christmas, I backed it with this cute bee fabric!
