This is the latest block from the Fireburst mystery …. I really like this block and it went together like a dream! Or at least how I dream of piecing bits and pieces together. Having a block finished is a sort-of finish, correct?
The above block will be arranged with these other blocks below. There are 4 of each of them. Sew, my educated guess is that the above block is the centre block, the block on the left will be centre top, centre bottom and centre on both sides. Then the block on the right will be in the 4 corners. I will know for sure next week.
Sandwiched
Wonky Logs is sandwiched. I’m wondering what it will be like to quilt over the serged seams. I’ll be able to report on that soon!
I looked through my trusty notebook for ideas on how to quilt it … nada … nothing hit me …
SEW … this lies, sandwiched, on the spare bed, waiting for inspiration …
I have a couple of ideas … with all the straight lines in the quilt – the quilting needs to be curvy … I need to just start quilting and see what happens. I should follow my cousin, Terry‘s idea of graffiti quilting. OK … now I know what to do to start quilting! Thanks for listening to my decision making process here!
Update:
Tish from Tish’s Adventures in Wonderland featured my Sudoku quilt this week!
Happy Quilting!
Gail

You’ve got some really gorgeous bits of sage and dark GREEN scattered throughout your projects for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Best of luck as you work toward those quilt finishes!!

Yes, there is green in most of my projects. I’m trying to NOT start any new projects this year (I’ve failed at that!). But it’s fun to watch the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!!
Happy Quilting! 🙂

Hi Gail! Your center block in Fireburst turned out great. This is going to be a fabulous quilt when it is all together. Your wonky logs quilt turned out great, too. I will be really interested in seeing how you quilt it. ~smile~ Roseanne

Ah Roseanne, I think you’re jumping to conclusions … Tish hasn’t said this is the centre block! (wink wink) … And yes, I do think it will look pretty great when it’s put together!
Happy Quilting! 🙂

I hope you try the graffiti quilting. I just love how freeing it is and the organic effect. My learning though is to mix it up with simple designs in between. Echoing, mctaviching, and the like are your friends. Without the contrast, it just looks like a blob.
Good luck!
Cheers

You fireburst quilt blocks look terrific and I think you are right about the placement. I love your wonky blocks too! I need a whimsical quilt for December and am just beginning to think about it and your blocks are certainly inspirational. I can’t decide if I want to do something I have already seen or come up with something new.

Thanks Kathleen! If you want something quick … go for the wonky blocks … but if you want something new – that can be fun, too … but often not as quick! Whatever you decide … Happy Quilting! 🙂

Love the wonky logs and I agree deciding on how to go about quiilting some quilts can be a challenge. Looking forward to seeing what you do.

Thanks. I will be starting soon and hopefully finishing soon! Then you’ll get to see what I did!

I love the Fireburst block — something about it, maybe the shape and the colors you’ve selected makes me think of Celtic cross. Your Wonky Logs uses much wider pieces thank I’ve seen before on most wonky log cabin blocks. I like the effect it gives!

Hi LauraLynne,
I too, love this Fireburst block … I’m happy that it will be the centre of the quilt (I assume!).
I just followed the pattern for the Wonky Logs … and aside from my sliver trimming with the serger, it’s roughly the finished size of the pattern.
Happy Quilting! 🙂
