A Finish for November

Well, Fireburst is done, done, DONE!!!  The quilting is done, the binding is done, the label is done … it’s now history!!!

And, here is a picture from the back of the quilting!

Usually when quilts have a lot of straight lines in them, I tend to quilt swirls and curls, and of course feathers.  However, this quilt screamed at me – it wanted straight lines (except for the centre and the wiggly lines in the asymmetrical triangle-type blocks.

The pattern for Fireburst is available for free on Craftsy … but I’m not sure for how long. I suspect that Tish, the designer will be selling it soon.

Happy Quilting!
Gail

    • Hi Tish,
I’ll gladly quilt one of yours if you clean my house while I’m quilting!!! 🙂 [that always stops people from getting me to do their mending / alterations / quilting!]

Glad you love it! Thank you for the marvellous pattern! And the free mystery!
      Happy Quilting! 🙂

  2. That quiliting is perfection for this quilt! I love what you did and may mimic some of this on my baby size – which reminds me to take the foot and rulers with me to Maine this afternoon!

  3. GAIL! Shut the front door! A finish already for November 3rd?!! Wendy and I were just discussing how to quilt Fireburst yesterday, and we both knew you were almost finished. Thank you for the inspiration!! What a beautiful finish and quilt. Does it have a home already – are you enjoying it?! I love it. Happy Happy Saturday to you! ~smile~ Roseanne

    • Hi Roseanne,
Well, I was hoping for an October finish – but that didn’t happen!
Yes, Fireburst has a home … but not here. For some reason, it was very easy to decide where it would be going.
I took a photo of the back so that people could see how I quilted it … but I’m looking forward to seeing other ideas. I know one person said she was just going to quilt a concentric circle from the middle … I’m not patient or good enough to do that! It would have to be totally organic!
      Have a great weekend!
      Happy Quilting! 🙂

      • I quilted mine with a big spiral, almost like concentric circles except easier with no stops and starts! I hope to take pictures today and post soon. I love your straight lines, though!!!! Looks great! And your fireburst colors are really stunning.

    • Hi Wendy,
      Thank you!
If I had made the smaller size, it wouldn’t have had near the quilting! But … because I had enough fabric, I decided to make the bigger one.
      Can’t wait to see yours!
      Happy Quilting! 🙂
