“Big Brother’s” quilt is done! I used the pattern from this video, and then to make it a bit bigger, I added 2½” wide sashing and cornerstones. This is the very first time I’ve used a light binding … I like it, but I’m not sure how it will be for a toddler quilt! Will have to wait and see.
Quilt Stats:
- Size: 44″ x 58
- Quilted with: a light, light blue CanSew thread. Stars and Swirls
- Hobbs 80/20 batting
Here’s a close-up of the quilting:

This has something to do with my Island Batik June project. Can you guess what’s happening?
I showed you the picture below. How do they fit together?

Hopefully the Island Batik project will be sandwiched and quilted this week.

Winnie the Pooh Sew-along
I haven’t started this yet … so I’m not sure what the schedule will be, but I do plan to start the sew-along on June 8. In the meantime, you can access the pattern HERE. (scroll down the page). There are 3 sizes to choose from. Your choice as to which size you choose. There is also a HONEY quilt you can purchase that has the 4 characters in it. SEW CUTE!!! There are no fabric requirements for the pattern … I will be making the large size and will let you know approximately how much fabric you will need for the faces.
One who sleeps under a quilt is covered by LOVE!
Happy Quilting!
Gail

Big Brother’s quilt looks great with your choice of binding, I hope it holds up to the love this quilt will no doubt get. 🙂 I guess worse case, binding is reasonably easy to replace in the future if it comes to that. Can’t wait to see your version of the winne the pooh quilt. Thanks for sharing at the Clever Chameleon’s colour and inspiration party.

Hi Dione,
The binding should hold up … it’s a good quality fabric … I usually frame quilts with a darker binding … but time will tell. “Big Brother” told me that he’s going to use the quilt in the car to cover his lap! I thought that was so cute!
Thanks for hosting Clever Chameleon’s party!

I love the scrappiness of ‘Big Brother’s’ quilt. The wonkiness of the blocks adds so much interest. It’s a fun quilt that’s gonna get a lot of love. Thanks for sharing it on MCM!

Hi Gail! You did a great job on your list from last week. I love the Big Brothers quilt – those sashing and cornerstones really add a nice frame for each of the blocks. That quilting pattern is just fab! Does it have a name? It’s just enough – not too dense to keep it nice and soft and cushy. Thanks so much for linking up this week. ~smile~ Roseanne

Thanks, Roseanne!
The quilting pattern – a name? Someone, somewhere may have named it – but I just did 5 point stars (with the occasional 4 or 6 point one) surrounded by small swirls … easy peasy … well, not that easy – or else I wouldn’t have had 4 or 6 pointed stars in there! 🙂
Thanks for hosting To Do! 🙂
