Are you ready to enter into the challenge of getting those UFOs done and gone?
Here’s what you have to do:
- Select 12 UFOs (or more) that you want to finish in 2022
- Join, with the linky party and tell us about your UFOs
- Grab a tally sheet (or make your own) to keep track of your UFOs
- Plan to FINISH every single quilty project that you start in 2022. And keep track of them. This keeps your UFO list from increasing!
- You have until January 15, 2022 to officially join in!
The Tally Sheet
Here is an Excel File for you to use (if you want). If the link doesn’t work – Please email me and I can email it to you! (quiltinggail@yahoo.ca)
Here is my Tally Sheet for 2022! And I just noticed that there is a UFOs missing. A “necessary clutch” made with cork.

I think this is great motivation. It’s too unrealistic for me since this year we will sell a business, sell our house and move. So, I’ve decided that I have to finish 3 projects at least to the flimsy stage before I can start anything new. I don’t really get hung up at the quilting and binding stages, so if I get to the flimsy stage I usually finish. Good luck to all who participate. Maybe I can join next year.

Hi Sarah,
It sounds like your plate will be full with all the selling and moving! You are probably wise to step back for the coming year. And, you are correct, there is always next year!
Happy New Year! 🙂

Gail, I think this is a brilliant program! When I joined up this past year, I was really looking forward to getting my 12 UFOs done and I found that the list helped keep me on track. A real win! I had several quilt tops that needed to be quilted. But……. As I am quite goal oriented, I knew that I would meet that goal. The thrill comes in the second component of the challenge which is to finish everything started in 2021. I am absolutely thrilled to have finished all of the quilts, bits and bobs. From this year, I have a large quilt ready for the LAQ and my SAHRR, which has been machine basted for hand stitching this winter because I love it so much. I am thrilled to be starting the new year without more UFOs. Today I will check and see if I have any UFOs, which in my mind have to be more than a year old, to participate in 2022. I know I have some scrap accumulations and will see if they can be labelled as projects for my PHD. Thank You! Thank You! And Merry Christmas! Your PHD program has certainly brightened my spirits this season!

Jan,
Your reply thrilled my heart! You captured the true essence of PHD in 2021!!! To decrease our UFOs and not create any more!!! Thank you!!
Congratulations on achieving your PHD in 2021!!!

I am aiming to finish 4-6 UFOs in 2022, both quilts and cross stitch. The cross stitch projects just need framing, with glass etching, so will likely be done all at once or in two batches. That will feel good. 🙂
