Monday Moments July 11

Dianne’s Quilt

Dianne emailed me in May asking for the pattern for 3D Pinwheels. She made the quilt and said, “All piecing and quilting were accomplished on my workhorse 1952 Singer 15-91.  She’s a joy.  I like the looks of this quilt, which will be donated to Firehouse Quilts of Colorado.”

I think Dianne did a fantastic job making 3D Pinwheels! Isn’t it great that she pieced AND quilted this on an antique Singer? Just shows that you don’t need the latest and greatest newest machine with all the bells and whistles!

Thank you, Dianne for sharing q picture of your quilt with me and giving me permission to post it on my blog! I’m sure the Firehouse Quilts of Colorado will love receiving this beauty!

You can read more about the original 3D Pinwheels quilt HERE and HERE.

Stitching Time

Kate, from Life in Pieces, is hosting “Stitching Stuff” and the goal is to sew for at least 15 minutes a day. I use Kate’s guideline, but my personal goal is to sew for 30 minutes a day. On those “blah” days, it does motivate me to sit at my machine and 30 minutes often turns into several hours. Thank you Kate for the motivation!

  • January – June:  149 / 180
  • July 1 – 11:  11/11

  2. That is awesome about using the antique machine for the quilt. Connie of Free Motion by the River also uses an antique machine for her quilts! Good for you having your fabrics all squared away in their new home. I got my video made Sunday just before losing my voice. As I have felt like you know what since last week, it is still there, though I have parsed it into “piles” for each month’s project. About all I’ve done now in a week is sit at the computer and design, when I felt like being up! Hopefully this will be a much better week! Your 3-yard quilt is pretty. Looking forward to see how you quilt it. I hope you have a good week!

    • Hi Brenda!
Oh – I do hope you feel better SOON!!!
Yes, my Island Batik fabric is sorted and stored … but I doubt it will stay organized for very long! I know how I work!
I’m sure that some of your designs will be great!
      Heal soon!
