Central Alberta Quilt Show
Are you going??? This Quilt Show is known to be one of the best!!! It’s in Red Deer. On Friday, May 12 & Saturday, May 13.
Exhibition Hall, Westerner Park
4847 – 19 St. Red Deer Alberta T4R 2N7
I’m super excited about this show. My friend, Carmen, who owns Prairie Spirit Alpacas, will be there with her Alpaca/wool pressing mats …. If you see her … say “hi” and tell her that you “know” me! 😀.
PLUS: she will be selling a lot of my patterns!
PLUS: she will have this quilt there … It’s made with the Baby Stars pattern in Island Batik fabrics and the batting is Alpaca fleece. It will be a super super warm quilt!!! It was quilted on my domestic Janome M7. The Alpaca fleece certainly gives the quilting great texture! The fleece was doubled for this quilt, but I think it would have been just as good, if not better, with a single layer!
And this is my Friday Finish!

This is the original Baby Stars, it’s the picture you’ll see on my pattern … photo credit: Jerry Khiev, Island Batik.

Let me know if you buy a pattern, a mat, or some wool … buy some alpaca batting if you want to try it!
Retreat
I just came back from a 4 day retreat! LOTS of fun!!! I’ll tell you all about it on Sunday!
One who sleeps under a quilt is covered by LOVE!
Happy Quilting!

Alpaca Fleece, will have to look into that! Had nor heard of that for quilt batting before. I can imagine how warm and soft that would be.

Wow, your star quilt is lovely, and how exciting to have it featured in the show! A 4 day retreat sounds like a lot of fun 😉

Hi Frédérique! The star quilt was just at a booth, not featured in the show!! The retreat was a lot of fun!

Hi Gail, wow, quilted with two layers of alpaca wool batting! It really does have lots of loft. It sounds like a great show but Red Deer is really far away. Glad you had a good retreat – I love hearing about them! Thanks for linking up to Free Motion Mavericks. Take care.

Hi Andrée!
I’m only a 2 day drive from Red Deer, and I didn’t make it! You would have a MUCH longer drive!!! You’ll hear more about the retreat in a future blog post! Thanks for hosting Free Motion Mavericks.
