Happy New Year!

I wish everyone a Healthy and Happy New Year!

Please be careful when you’re sewing. I inadvertently sewed through my finger. I’ve never understood how that can happen … now I know. The needle went right through through the nail and out the other side. I refuse to show you the actual injury … there was blood involved, but none got on the fabric!

Stitching Stuff

Kate, from Life in Pieces, is hosting “Stitching Stuff” and the goal is to sew for at least 15 minutes a day. I use Kate’s guideline, but my personal goal is to sew for 30 minutes a day. On those “blah” days, it does motivate me to sit at my machine and 30 minutes often turns into several hours. Thank you Kate for the motivation!

2023 Result:

  • Total:  343 / 365
  • Percentage: 93%

Donna at Quilt Paint Create hosts a weekly linky party where you can display your stash numbers. This has really kept my stash from growing (somewhat!) Before I buy anything, I am always mindful of the fact that I need to report it on my blog … That sometimes stops me in my tracks!

2023 Result:

  • Fabric Used in 2023:    254 yards  from non-IB: 105
  • Fabric Added this year:    37 yards
  • Net Fabric used:             218 yards

I am pleased with all the fabric I’ve used this year. I had been secretly hoping that I’d use at least 100 yards from my stash – and I did!

  1. Great wrap-up to 2023. Sewing through your finger was not a good finish for the year. Glad no blood got on the fabric though. Happy New Year, Gail!

  2. Oh Gail, I know that feeling! Many years ago I worked for a shirt factory in Ontario. I was using an industrial sewing machine. I wasn’t paying attention and sewed my finger. Ended up ruining a few shirts sleeves.

  3. Oh bummer on the sewing injury. Hopefully it doesn’t hurt too much and yeah for no blood on the project (it’s just madness that we worry about that before we worry too much about what we did to ourselves). You did so well on the stitching time front in 2023. Wish you lots of success in 2024. I’ve still very envious that you’ve pummeled your UFO list into almost nothingness!

  4. Oh No! That injury looks painful (and a wee bit frustrating). However it looks like it didn’t slow you down too much. Great job on using so much fabric this year (again). Hope you had a wonderful New Years Eve and that 2024 will be good to you. 🤗

    • Thanks, Carol! No, it didn’t slow me down (much) … I’m hoping to use just as much fabric this year … but time will tell! I was in be by 10:30, heard a LOT of fireworks, but slept through most of it!
Happy 2024, Carol! May this year find you healthy and happy!
