A Purple Finish
Purple was July’s colour for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge hosted by So Scrappy. See THIS POST for more details.

I have attempted to make at least one baby or comfort quilt for each month’s challenge … but unfortunately, I haven’t been totally successful. Here are the ones I’ve made so far: January: pink, February: Blue (3), March: yellow, June: Orange, July: purple (2) I did miss April: red and May: green. Does it count that some of the months I made 2 or 3 quilts? All of these quilts were made with Island Batik (Lumin Fabrics), Hobbs Batting, and pieced and quilted with Aurifil Thread.

Stitching Stuff

Kate, from Life in Pieces, is hosting “Stitching Stuff” and the goal is to sew for at least 15 minutes a day. I use Kate’s guideline, but my personal goal is to sew for 30 minutes a day. On those “blah” days, it does motivate me to sit at my machine and 30 minutes often turns into several hours. Thank you Kate for the motivation!
- January – July: 207 / 211 days
- August: 24 / 24 days
- Total: 231 / 235 98 %
Design Wall Mondays

Judy, at Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, hosts a linky party for “What’s on your Design Wall” every week.
Piecing projects:

- “Bloomers:” I decided to use fabric from the Radiant Burst collection! And the main blocks are started with Eggwhite and Solid White. All the embroidery blocks and hexi and half hexi blocks are done! Need to add the borders.
- Rainbow Scrap challenge, Teal fabrics: making Jacob’s Ladder blocks … so pretty!
- “Sliver of Silver” for the guild’s 25th Anniversary.

Quilting projects:

- Splish Splash is webbed together and needs a backing, sandwiching and quilting.
Sunday Stash

Donna at Quilt Paint Create hosts a weekly linky party where you can display your stash numbers. This has really kept my stash from growing (somewhat!) Before I buy anything, I am always mindful of the fact that I need to report it on my blog … That sometimes stops me in my tracks!
I used at least 7 yards of fabric for the Butterfly Quilt.
- Fabric used in the last week: 7 yards
- Fabric Used in 2025: 163.5 yards. {53 yards of non Island Batik fabric}
- Fabric Added in the last week: 0 yards
- Fabric Added this year: 24.5 yards
- Net Fabric used: 139 yards

Maybe you haven’t made one baby quilt a month, but you’ve definitely kept up the stitching time. Wish I could say the same.

I love your baby quilts based on RSC! Fantastic idea and guaranteed to make a happy child!

Thank you. A couple of them are too big for baby quilts, so they will become ‘comfort’ quilts that are guild donates to cancer patients and other worthy people. It’s fun to make them!

Wow, it was a pretty productive year so far! I love your baby quilts and of course, every quilt count ;)) Your purple butterfly is adorable, I love the swirls and orange peels quilting patterns! The quote at the beginning of your post is fun, I have a sign to hang at the sewing room door, which says pretty much the same thing! Thank you for sharing and linking up!
