Boundary Bay Quilt Show … May 2019

Our guild’s quilt show was this weekend.  I know I’m biased, but I think it was an excellent show!

I know that I missed taking pictures of some of the quilts!  And, even on the last day, I saw quilts I had not seen before!

The video below shows many of the quilts in the show.  When I downloaded the video to Youtube, it was blocked because I used copywrited songs by the Beatles.  One of the challenges was “Quilts inspired by a Beatles’ Song” … live and learn …You can’t use copywrited songs!  dang!  But, I found some other music …

The beginning of the video contains all sorts of a variety of quilts.  Then, they are sorted into various categories:

  • Baby Quilts for Donation
  • Baby Quilt Challenge: Welcome to the Zoo
  • Challenge: Quilts inspired by a Beatles Song
  • Comfort Quilts (donated to a local hospital for patients with cancer)
  • Quilts of Valour (for x-military)
  • Round Robin Quilts: Each person in the group made a centre block. This block was given to the next person who then added a border and then another person added a border, and on and on …
  • Featured Quilter: Doreen Douglas: Oh my what a wonderful variety of quilts … when you see the heron that is thread painted, it is reversible … amazing!

Grab a cup of tea (or coffee) and enjoy the show!

I did Promise you

Close up pictures of a couple of quilts:  This first one was the Island Batik Accuquilt Challenge.  Free Motion quilting did not call to me and it’s totally stitched in the ditch. (And yes, I used my ruler foot and a ruler for most of the quilting.)  I used Aurifil Thread and Hobbs batting.  The fabrics are Island Batik and mostly came from the Stash Builder Rolls or my yardage.

This is a Close up of Good Fortune and the quilting.  I just did an all-over pattern that was inspired by Roseanne of Home Sewn by US, but then it morphed into my own design.

There is a book … a wonderful, delightful book called Christmas RAPPing. And it’s definitely a book you want to consider buying!

Christmas RAPPing … isn’t that title just so very very cute?  It’s “Christmas Quilts featuring Reverse Applique & Paper Piecing.”  Two extremely talented  ladies joined forces to put together the wonderful quilts, wall hangings and table runners in this book.  Oh – and there is also Christmas ornaments!  I was totally amazed at the variety of designs … indeed there is something for everyone in this book!

The 2 talented ladies are Nan and Margaret.  By talented, I mean TALENTED! You can check out their social media sites as listed at the end of this blog post.

PHD in 2019: Quilting UFOs and Finishing New Projects

Yes, I’ve been so busy with writing about being an Island Batik Ambassador, the Turnabout Patchwork blog hop & the Daisy Chain mystery writing about PHD in 2019 just slipped my mind, or more accurately, got put on the back burner.

The Turnabout Patchwork blog hop is still happening: Continue reading

Turnabout Patchwork Blog Hop

Screen Shot 2018-12-08 at 1.45.32 PMThis book came out in December.

As I said before, I love the premise of this book.  You make a specific block, cut it as directed and voilá  – you have a completely different block with a big difference!  It’s a little like the disappearing 9 patch and disappearing 4 patch … but with totally different results!

If you want to see a lot of eye candy with patterns from this book – make sure that you visit all the different blogs on the blog hop.
