BBQG Healthcare Hero’s Mystery Quilt

Warning, this post is very picture heavy!!!

I am SEW very proud of the Quilt Guild I belong to!!! (Boundary Bay Quilters Guild). Whenever there have been urgent needs for quilts, the guild members step up. Just going off the top of my head, there have been quilts made for the Saskatchewan hockey bus tragedy, the shootings in Nova Scotia, blocks for the wildfires in Australia, banners for a public stabbing in Lynn Canyon, and the regular donations from our guild (baby quilts, comfort/cancer quilts and Quilts of Valour.)

Recently, the guild decided to donate quilts to local Healthcare Heros. They are doing such a fantastic job and working extremely hard!  As a former nurse educator, I can only imagine what stresses they undergo daily!

There have already been a LOT of quilts donated and many more are in the line up. Unfortunately, I don’t know who made all of them, but I do have pictures of the ones previously donated to this cause … If you are in the guild and want your quilt acknowledged, please let me know and I’ll edit the post.

In the picture below, do you see Douglas? He’s doing a photo bomb!

Here’s Stella’s and this is what she said, “My heroes quilt is definitely not like the others! But I did use up a few scraps and had fun doing it. It only measures 42×52” so better suited for a baby than an adult. “

Judy D brought her’s over for a clothesline shot … and a lovely socially distanced visit!

Dawn F is almost done, except for the binding!

Here’s Laura’s … oh so pretty!

Kathy S has found that the mystery quilts have been a fun distraction over the past year! This quilt is very pretty!

Here’s Bonnie K’s

This is Robin B’s!

And here is Patti’s (from a previous mystery!)

And here’s Patti’s 2nd one … this one was a guild mystery.

Linda K made this one using a jelly roll. She found it was way too big, so she cut it in half! It’s still a fairly large quilt!

Linda K also made this one … would you believe it’s a panel that she quilted?

Here’s Heidi’s

And last, is the one I made:

Isn’t that a wonderful bounty of quilts! And I hear rumours that many more are being made!

One who sleeps under a quilt is covered by LOVE!

Happy Quilting!
Gail

  3. Hi Gail! What a fabulous post. Just to think of all the recipients who will be so happy to receive a new quilt to wrap up in. Each and every one of these is made with care and thoughtfulness, and I know it will be felt. I really enjoyed seeing Douglas as the photobomber! {{Hugs}} Thanks so much for sharing! ~smile~ Roseanne

  5. This is my third attempt to tell you what a great project this is/was! I hope this time it “takes”. Those quilts and the process — such a wonderful way to have fun, play with colour, relieve stress, express thanks and spread love, all at one go!

    • Hi Margaret,
Sorry it took you 3 tries to leave a comment! 😦 But at least this time, it worked! 🙂
Yes, lots of quilts and lots of love sewn into each quilt! I think it shows how much we all appreciate our Healthcare Heros! 🙂

  6. What lovely quilts, and to celebrate such fantastic people during the craziness and horror that has been the last 18 months. Sounds like you are in a fantastic guild!

  7. What a fun quilt show you shared. Your guild should be proud of all of their donations. I belong to 3 different guilds and they all make big efforts to donate to organizations in their communities.
