If you need more information on the SAHRR … you can go to THIS POST.
Centre Block
Here is my centre block. The birds and the flowers were cut with Accuquilt dies that I borrowed from our guild’s die collection. (Go! Birds and Rose of Sharon). This piece is 9.5″ x 12.5″. I will do the applique stitching when I quilt it. I used Island Batik fabrics from the Baby Bloomers collection (by Kathy Engle for Karen Overton) and solid white. I initially used the Baby Bloomer fabrics for a Lone Star Quilt you can see HERE.

Now, you Need to go to the co-hosts blogs and see their center blocks! Their links are in the schedule below.

I love your center block… this is the first year I am joining in – so just so that I understand it correctly – we choose what block and size, etc for the center block? And then get some direction for the next rounds? xx

That’s correct, Joy. You can make the centre block whatever size you want. I think the smallest has been 6″ and the largest has been a panel (36″ x 40″). Each week, we’ll prompt you with what that round is to be. Some of the bloggers will give you exact sizes of what they used and some may not. But it’s totally up to you to decide exactly how you’re going to do the quilt!
Happy Quilting! 🙂

Hi Gail! I seem to be a bit out of the loop with not picking a bird for my center block. I love this – the fabric choices for the Rose of Sharon are just spot on. I look forward to seeing where you take this in the upcoming weeks. Thanks for the linky party! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Nobody has to choose a bird for their centre. It was just what I chose to do … this time around! I’m so glad that you’re one of the co-hosts for the SAHRR!!! It’s always a lot of fun! 🙂

I have not been able to find a link to download, nor where is the pattern for the first block?

There is no link for any of the centre blocks … each person is to choose what their own centre block will be. Some choose to use an orphan block or a test block, some decide to design their own blocks … it’s totally up to you. Enjoy deciding what you will do! 🙂
