This is my finished Bonnie Hunter Mystery: Chilhowie. I used scraps of Island Batik to make this. Interestingly, I still have a LOT of scraps left!!!

Quilt Stats:
- size: 78″ x 78″
- fabrics: Island Batik scraps from many collections
- batting: Hobbs 80/20
- Quilted and Pieced with Aurifil thread #2600: Dove Grey
- Wild Quilting: anything goes.
When you make a quilt as busy as this one, it’s a great quilt to do wild or graffiti quilting. It was a LOT of fun to quilt!!! I demonstrated wild quilting at a guild function … it was fun to have different people tell me what to quilt next. And yes, I did have a page full of motifs that are appropriate for wild quilting!
One who sleeps under a quilt is covered by LOVE!
Happy Quilting!
Gail

Awesome finish, Gail!!! I know how much work BH’s mystery quilts are, as I just finished mine. Neat that you could demo wild quilting with your guild! Do you have a longarm at the guild, or did they meet at your home, or ?

Hi Nancy,
I do all my quilting on a domestic machine. I had already quilted a good portion of the centre of the quilt at home, so at the guild sew day, I mostly quilted around that towards the sides and had people tell me what to quilt next. Such fun! 🙂

Gail it is a beautiful finish. Of course I love your batik scraps and the wild quilting is a perfect finish for this quilt.

I love your version of Chilhowie, but what’s not to love with batik scraps! Graffiti quilting is something I want to try to do more of – thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks, Brenda! Bonnie’s quilts are great – but they do take time. Have you considered do it as a leader and ender?

Hi Gail! Beautiful finish and I just LOVE the idea of wild quilting. That sounds like a lot of fun, both making it and quilting it with a group. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Thanks, Roseanne! I think wild quilting is my absolute favourite!!! Anything that could have an edge to edge pattern could easily have wild quilting!
Hugs back at ya!

Your Chilhowie quilt is really pretty. But then how can you mess up when you use batiks?

So true, Gene!!! It’s almost impossible to mess up with batiks! And Bonnie’s patterns are all colour coordinated – so it works out!
