Our Beautiful Fall Continues!

Oh – it is so lovely outside!  Although I’m missing summer, I’m loving these wonderful west coast fall days.  It’s hard to be inside when it’s so nice outside!  However, they are forecasting rain for Tuesday, so this wonderful days will come to an end.

Fireburst has the first stitches of quilting done.  There is nothing active happening with piecing.  IMG_2479

Summary:  No UFOs finished in October, so I still have 4 UFOs to complete by the end of the year.  With the giraffe quilt finished, that leaves me with ONE Start in 2018 to complete … Doable?  I certainly hope so!

Stash Report

Giraffe quilt is finished.  It used 4.5 yards of fabric.  IMG_2473

  • Fabric Used this year:    227.35 yards
  • Fabric Added this Week:  0 yard
  • Fabric Added this Year:  77.3  yards

Happy Quilting!

    • Hi Irene,

If this is your first time visiting my blog – welcome!
The Fireburst is a great pattern and the directions are very easy to follow!

I only started sewing with batiks in the last few years … they are fine for some things, but I still like regular cotton for most of my quilting. Although – when it comes to scrappy – anything goes! 🙂

Batiks are very easy to work with – way less stretch and they are easy to quilt as well!

And a thank-you to Tish for suggesting my blog!

      Happy Quilting! 🙂

  2. Love that deep burnt orange you used for the background in Fireburst. You’ve done so well on using up the stash and on getting quilts moved to the finished column. You’ll definitely have your PhD by the end of the year!

  4. Sometimes our quilting has to take a back seat to other things … like enjoying the outdoors while we can. It’s motivational so it’s kind of part of quilting! It’s a beautiful block you’ve got there.

  5. Hi Gail! I wonder what four UFOs you have to finish? Your Fireburst looks fab and I really look forward to seeing how you are going to quilt it. I have been dragging my feet on it for that very reason – how to quilt it! ~smile~ Roseanne

    • Hi Roseanne!
I’m also wondering what UFOs I’ll finish as well! I will post something about it when I decide …
So far, I’ve just done some straight line quilting … I want to somehow highlight the centre … but not sure how I’ll do that. Will see what happens!
      Happy Quilting! 🙂

  6. I don’t know if I saw your version before – it is terrific. It will be a few weeks until I get to quilting. I love fall too, but ours has been a bit strange this year in New England, more rain for the early part than I like.
