Nothing much to show

Usually, I try to have something to show on Fridays … and I like it best when it’s a finish … but this Friday all I have to show is this:

This is some playing with rulers on the guild’s mystery quilt … it’s all I’m showing because I don’t want to give away what the quilt will be. Plus, I am still in the process of quilting it … so it’s not even finished!

Ventura Sewing Machine Repair - Ventura Vacuum and Sewing Machine Repair

I have TWO machines in to be serviced and have a spa visit. I took my Janome 6500 in before we left on holidays … they told me a month … I know they’ll phone when it’s ready … but I’m getting impatient!

With the 6500 visiting the spa doctor, I pulled out my trusty Featherweight and … GROAN … I’m not sure what happened, but it decided it also needed to go to the spa!

However, this meme is NOT true in my house!

I’ve also been working on some “behind the scenes” work … I’ll show you eventually … but it’s taking it’s time …

Socks …

I got my alpaca socks from Prairie Spirit Alpacas. It is cool enough today to have them on! They are pretty awesome! My toes are warm and my feet are not itchy! (they get itchy with wool). Alpaca fleece is hypoallergenic – so perfect for me! (If you order from them, put “Gail” in the code and you’ll receive a discount). (I don’t make anything from your order, except a smile!)

I’ll be ordering more socks for Christmas presents … I just need to find out if they want “Lux” for hanging out in or “Slim” for wearing with shoes …

  1. Wonderful Elephant quilt. Time to organize all your projects, due all the prep work. So when your sewing machines come home you can jump in.

      I’m still able to sew … my M7 is an amazing machine! I just hate switching from quilting to piecing! šŸ™‚ (I know, it’s a first world problem … but I can still complain about it, right? šŸ˜‰ )

  3. It’s hard to be without your favorite sewing machines for a month! Hope the time passes quickly. In the meantime, that the quilting you’re doing on the Guild Mystery quilt looks lovely. And your Island Batik quilt is exquisite! Love, love it.

  4. OHHH secret sewing! So fun!!! What you’re showing looks great I can’t wait to see the rest!
    My favorite machine needs work, I can’t figure out how to fix it but I don’t want to take it in…if I did I would already have it back! silly me! I hope yours is back in no time!

    • I know, it’s a long time. But the techs are fantastic and do a thorough job. The machine stays on stie and they haven’t lost one yet! One tech (at a different place) lost my serger for 3 months … I was NOT a happy camper!!! I’ll gladly wait for good service! šŸ™‚

      Well, I’m not totally machine-less. I still have my M7, that I use for quilting, and that’s basically what I’m doing now! šŸ™‚
      As for researching future projects … I have WAY too many already! šŸ™‚

    I took my Babylock Spirit in for a spa visit and was told I had 40 MILLION stitches on it…still works fine but I opted to purchase a new embroidery machine and got the Babylock Pathfinder..so far I’m loving it!

  11. Phooey! Two machines to the repair shop! Up until recently we had to drive two hours to take machines in for repair or cleaning. Now we at least have a local guy that went to school to clean and do minor repairs! Much better!

      About the machines: I do have another featherweight – which has needed service for a long time and I do have a hand-crank … but I don’t really want to sew on it!
      I’ll finish quilting the quilt I’m working on and then I’ll piece for a bit, then go back to quilting. I guess it’s a first world problem when I don’t have 2 machines set up … one for quilting and one for piecing! šŸ™‚
