A Fun Surprise!
A few weeks ago, I had an email from Brandy Maslowski, the podcast host of “Quilter on Fire” asking if I would write a review of her podcast. And, if I did so, I might get a free t-shirt from her. I wrote the review, and when it was time to submit my size for the t-shirt, I got the message that no sizes were left. I thought, “oh well,” at least I wrote a decent review …
Then, last week, I got a package in the mail … it was a t-shirt with a note that said, “Sorry you couldn’t pick your size.” I laughed because the size that was sent was the perfect size for me! Thank you Brandy!
Now, if you have not listened to “Quilter on Fire” podcasts … you absolutely MUST do so!!! They are excellent! Brandy interviews people from all over the world, some of them famous, some I’ve never heard of! They are fun to listen to as you sew, walk … or whatever!
Some other info about Brandy: She’s a fellow BC resident and lives in a lovely town called Summerland on the south-west shore of Okanagan Lake. There was a HUGE wildfire near her home recently and she was evacuated for over a week. Thankfully, her home and many near her were spared … however, many many more lost everything. Anyhow, when you get an opportunity, make sure to listen to Quilter on Fire! 🔥
Stitching Stuff
Kate, from Life in Pieces, is hosting “Stitching Stuff” and the goal is to sew for at least 15 minutes a day. I use Kate’s guideline, but my personal goal is to sew for 30 minutes a day. On those “blah” days, it does motivate me to sit at my machine and 30 minutes often turns into several hours. Thank you Kate for the motivation!
I sew when I can, but it definitely isn’t every day!

Sunday Stash
Donna at Quilt Paint Create hosts a weekly linky party where you can display your stash numbers. This has really kept my stash from growing (somewhat!) Before I buy anything, I am always mindful of the fact that I need to report it on my blog … That sometimes stops me in my tracks!
A friend of a friend was having a stash clearing sale … I went … I saw … and I bought!
I bought a total of 9 yards of fabric … the 2 fabrics in the plastic are wide back and the 3 flannels are 1 yard each. I didn’t show you the quilting rulers (for fmq) that I bought.
- Fabric used this week: 0 yards
- Fabric Used in 2026: 97.5 yards (64 yards from non-Island Batik)
- Fabric Added in the last week: 9 yards
- Fabric Added this year: 13 yards
- Net Fabric used: 82 yards

Monthly Colour Challenge
I have participated in the monthly colour challenge with Patterns by Jen in past years. There was a break last year, but Jen is back with the monthly blocks this year. The theme is frogs … here is what Jen says about the theme: This year our color inspiration is coming from the amazing frog. I was a little concerned as I started researching frog colors that there wouldn’t be enough colors for the year, I mean, they are all green, right? 😉 Imagine my delight when I found frogs of (almost) every color of the rainbow, as well as a black frog that makes me want to take him home and love him.
Each month, the patterns are free, but when the month is over, there is a $1 fee to pay for the pattern. I am using scraps of Island Batik (Lumin Fabrics).

This is a Sew-a-long by Red Boot Quilt Company. I’m using scraps of Island Batik (Lumin Fabrics). Each of the blocks have trapunto and the appliqué is adhered with a small zig-zag stitch.
