Went shopping with the hubby … looking for a binding for Shakespeare in the Park.  But alas – did I take the quilt sandwich with me? No.  Did I take fabric samples with me? No. We had pics on his phone … who knows how accurate the colour is.  Probably pretty good, but it’s hard to say when you’re in a store and all you have is a tiny picture.  He ended up buying 5 meters of fabric – 4 of them “just in case” and one meter was because He liked it!  I’m starting to think that I should keep my fabric and his fabric separate!!!  Most of the additions to the stash this year have been his!

This week I gave away a UFO to a friend.  But alas, I found another UFO. It was a kit from Heart and Soul Quilt Shop in Grand Forks. (Sorry, I couldn’t find a website, just a Facebook link).  All of this to say that my UFO totals remain the same!

A lot of sewing happening, but nothing is finished – so my numbers aren’t changing from last week.

I didn’t buy any quilting fabric this week!!

En Provence is completed!  According to the fabric requirements this quilt needed 13 yards for the top and 5 yards for the back.  That’s a total of 18 yards used.  All from stash … most of it from scraps … visually, I don’t really see a decrease in my fabric – except that I have few neutral scraps and where the backing was, there’s a little vacant spot on the shelf.

Well, I went to the retreat last weekend & I caved … the “Needle & I“ set up a small store for retreaters … with a sale … Christmas 50% off & everything else 20% off.  Well, since I needed to get some thread, I went in to buy thread & came out with 1 charm pack and fabric to make a “charm star” Christmas quilt … and then one other lady was buying the absolute cutest charm pack to make a bag like one of the other retreaters made … well, I just had to purchase it, don’t you know? So, in total, I had 2 charm packs and a bit of yardage.

Sew … I did go 15 days without buying fabric.  However – I did stop in at  Overseas Fabrics in Abbotsford, looking for backing, but nothing said “buy me, buy me!!”   My goal is actually to use more fabric than I buy … as soon as I finish a quilt, I should be in the black & back on track.

OK … I’ve managed one week without buying any fabric!  YEAH!!  Can I manage to do this for the next 51 weeks? 

I did finish one quilt … it was in the process of being quilted at the start of the year – so I’m only going to add the ½ yard that was used for binding. However, with all future projects, I will add in the total amounts for the project.

I generally don’t make New Year’s Resolutions … why bother? I can never follow through!  However, this year, I am going to attempt to NOT buy any fabric!

Quit laughing!  Those of you that know me are probably already rolling on the floor, busting your gut, laughing.  But, hey – one can only try, right?
