SAHRR – The Parade

Just to remind you … SAHRR is Stay At Home Round Robin. If you missed the previous posts about this year’s SAHRR – you can see them at the links below:

Here’s mine. I had to hang it side-ways on the clothes line, because who knows where the poles are? So this picture is actually rotated.

And here’s a picture in front of the magnolia tree that is just starting to bloom!

More about this quilt: 72″ x 86″. The fabric is Island Batik, “Ohana” collection (is available in stores now) and solid white. I used Hobbs 80/20 from my own roll of batting (yes, I buy it by the roll!). It was quilted on my domestic machine, Janome M7 with Aurifil thread #2600, Dove. Odif 505 spray was used to baste the quilt together. Accuquilt dies (from Cube 8″) were used for the star and pinwheel blocks.

This also completes another UFO as it was started in Dec. ’20 …

Are you a quilt designer?

If you took part in the SAHRR – you actually are. You had to decide on how big to make your round, how many elements you wanted to put in each round. You also had to decide if you were going to go around the whole quilt, or just one, 2 or 3 sides. All of these are design choices. You had to design the quilt!

  6. I love this so much! The colors are beautiful, and that picture with the tree is stunning. The colors in Ohana are so pretty. Your outer borders, especially, of the friendship stars & pinwheels with the log cabins in the center are really fabulous. Lovely, and such a good idea! This has been one of my favorite quilt alongs ever!

  7. The crisp white with those cool colors really shines and the quilting looks great too. It was such fun to watch all the quilts come together. It really is amazing to know that everyone worked off the same set of prompts.

  8. Your SAHRR was so much fun. I didn’t think I could participate because of the time frame, but it was such a nice challenge that I wound up with a flimsy. Am quilting it now, and even that is a designing point – deciding what to quilt next. Thanks so much for this wonderful way to work at home and see all these great quilts – yours and Heather’s included.

  10. Thanks so much, Gail, for organizing this fun RR! I absolutely love your quilt and watched it grow every week. And I love that every round had white cornerstones! That IB fabric is so lovely, and I’m eyeing it toward an eventual Storm at Sea/Snail’s Trail quilt. Heather’s quilt is gorgeous too!

  11. This is one beauty! The extra white at the outside is perfect and the coping strips really help make it not too busy…hard to achieve with Round Robins. I had a good time playing and am binding and blogging tomorrow so if all goes well, it will be a Wednesday linkup! Thanks for the fun and the leadership….cheering and allowing those who wanted to skip rounds…I did a few.

  13. Your project looks awesome, Gail! Thank you for organizing the SAHRR. Doing all the steps myself made the Round Robin less stressful than when other quilters are counting on me to hit a deadline. Turns out that I had SEW much fun!!

  17. I love your centre block! I went to the link, but just saw it. Is it possible to get the pattern still? I think I might like it as a centre to the quilt we’re doing altogether, sometime!!

  23. Gail this turned out beautiful. I love the way the white background makes each row kind of “fly” around that gorgeous center block. I love Heather’s blues too!
    Thanks for hosting this event. I really enjoyed my participation and the rows I ended up with look great. I will finish mine sometime before Christmas – lol!
