Oh my! The retreat was a great time. They always are! So many different projects, so many ideas, so much help … so much food … and 2 people brought halloween jellies and candy corn … groan! … too much sugar … click HERE to see the slide show of other people’s projects.
SEW … What did I get done?
The squirrel quilt that took FOREVER to get sandwiched, is now quilted and bound! Yeah!
The blue quilt of the blue & pink squirrels got webbed, cut up and put back together.
I got 7 blocks of the 52 blocks in 52 week project done! All as leaders and enders.
Secret Project (IB-Dec) #3 … is now bound … you’ll see pictures in December!
Secret Project #4 just needs a few adjustments and you’ll see it in the near future!
What I didn’t get done – and it’s OK!
I know I took WAY more than I could even attempt to work on … but I’m happy with what did get done!
- November IB project didn’t get a stitch of quilting on it
- Smith Mountain morning got left at home – so it didn’t get webbed or borders put on it
- A French General layer cake that is a UFO in progress. The blocks need to be trimmed and webbed together
The Batik Winners from the Blog Hop in August
Both of the winners have recieved their fabric. Neither of them are obligated to post what they will do with the fabric. It was a free gift with absolutely NO strings attached! However, one of the winners, Roseanne, from Home Sewn by US, posted about the fabrics and what she might make with them. She plans to make a table runner and posted a few pictures of options. Venture over to her blog to vote on which table runner YOU think she should make! Her blog post is HERE.

November Island Batik Project needs quilting and binding
Stash Report
The little blue baby quilt is finished … I used around 2.5 yards of fabric. I also finished my December Island Batik and the backing was from my stash (6 yards). There was a pop-up shop at the retreat … with beautiful Tilda fabric … and I resisted and resisted and didn’t buy any fabric. Oh, but if you have a love for Tilda fabric, The Steam Trunk Craftworks sells it at a great price!

Aren’t retreats fun? You have to take too much stuff; otherwise, you’ll finish everything and have nothing to do LOL

I agree, Anja! I wouldn’t want to be at a retreat with nothing to do! 🙂

I love retreats! I always take way more than I can finish, but that is ok. The fellowship, and yes, the food, is worth it LOL

I always enjoy retreats! Even the ones where we have to cook our own food. So much fun!

Well, you sure didn’t let any dust settle under your feet at the retreat (must’ve been all that yummy sugar!) — you got some really nice work accomplished! I’m still petting my fabric win; haven’t decided what to make yet — I’m pondering. Roseanne is just so much quicker than me! Thanks for the fabric, and for the reminder that I need to include a pic in a post!

Hi Wendy!
I’m glad that you’re enjoying petting the fabric. Please know that you are under NO obligation to post a picture or to show what you make with the fabric. I, know too well, how fabric can sit for YEARS before the right inspiration hits!
Enjoy the fabric and make whatever you’re lead to make – whenever that will be … AND, I’m sure that you have many other projects and squirrels just waiting to be sewn on!
Happy Quilting! 🙂

Hi Gail! Thanks for the shout out, and thank you again for the fabric. They are just so divine. I’m thinking there just might be enough for two runners – IDK. I love your blue quilt . . . especially the binding you chose for it. It really highlights and pulls out that fabric from the center motif. So nice! ~smile~ Roseanne

Thanks, Roseanne! I know that you will enjoy the fabric. I just LOVE Island Batik fabric and this fall line was really pretty! 2 runners! Woohoo! That’s using the fabric to the fullest!
The plaid fabric was what I had – so it got used for the binding!
Happy Quilting! 🙂
